OOC: Everyone report to stations for the war games.
ON
Geri walked off the turbo lift entering ops immediately making her way to the seat in the center. Taking a seat she crossed her left leg over her right and swivelled towards the Intelligence station which Bauer was already manning as Acting Chief of Intelligence. "Mister Bauer, report."
Bauer turned to Severide. For the time the mission had been largely uneventful which surprised Edward. Geri had yet to be shot, arrested or demoted. Infact the CO had seen to promote her to the XO position. While on the surface, Geri lacked the maturity for such a station, Edward knew she would get the job done when it counted. "Ma'am, long range sensors detect a large enemy fleet closing in on our sector at an approximate speed of warp two. The fleet is comprised largely of carriers with a small compliment of smaller, more agile combat vessels. I estimate the arrival of the fleet within our sector in the next eight to twelve hours."
"Thank you Mister Bauer, all other departments report your statuses." she announced to the staff in the room.
Zhara didn't normally take her position in Operations, but this time she was as interested to see how Severide performed as she was to observe the "games." Just because she could, she took her seat next to Geri and smiled. "Counseling is ready."

"Severide to Mabrade. What is the status of the squadron?"
=^= Squadron at battle ready with six on the catapults and four ready fighters to be launched on a moments notice. =^= Major Mabrade. reported.
He was seated in the lead craft, it is not often that he gets to be in the lead ship, the flight gear felt surprisingly good at the moment; it seemed like far too long since he had been in the Control deck of a fighter.
Marcus quietly observed in the background, curious to see how his first officer would handle the pressures of a boarding scenario.
Lt. Leyton was in her office as she monitored the situation in Ops. These war games would allow her to see just how good the security department aboard the starbase. She had guards stationed at key areas on the station along with roaming patrols. "Security is ready," she reported over her comm link.
Marcus looked around ops, then back to Bauer's console. The "enemy" ships were accelerating. He said nothing, waiting to see how long it would take for Bauer to notice.
"Colonel what do you?....What the hell? Commander the fleet is accelerating and more ships just dropped out of warp. Ma'am this doesn't feel right." Bauer stated noting both the Colonel's concern adding to it some of his own.
"Nonsense Bauer. A ploy to take us off our game. Getting a little antsy are we?" She smirked. "On screen."
The screen in ops lit up showing the enemy fleet fast approaching the star base.
"Status of the fleet?" She asked.
"Long range sensors indicate ten ships in all, Commander, now approaching at warp six. New ETA... less than ten minutes! Fleet is comprised of two capital ships, four heavy cruisers, two light cruisers, and two frigates!" The officer at ops was getting nervous. War games were not usually weighted this heavily in favor of the attacker.
Geri narrowed her eyes in her chair as her mind began to assess the situation. Something was beginning to feel off about what was transpiring. She looked to DeSalle whom remained stone-faced at his post. She was sensing nothing from him. His body language, demeanour and thoughts were all clear.
He was testing her....
"Colonel, if you wouldn't mind please take the counsellor and a team to the Renown."
"Major Mabrade, launch your fighters and prepare for incoming vessels." she said over the comm.
"Tactical, prepare the defences." Geri leaned back in her chair smuggly smirking at the main view screen. She was hiding her inner inhibitions but now was not the time to be showing such. Geri had a reputation to defend.
Bauer got up from his intelligence station and walked over to Severide. "Commander this is not right. Something is amiss here."
"Can it Bauer I've got this." Geri replied continuing to eye the view screen.
"Commander...."
"You need to go sit down Warrant." Geri replied sharply.
Bauer gritted his teeth as he hesitantly complied with her request.
"You need to listen to him, Commander," Zhara said firmly. "And as you stated that I am of no possible use to you, why do you wish me to go to the Renown?"
"What I need Lieutenant is you not to question my orders." Geri said in a raised tone.
Marcus bristled, but said nothing. If this was how Severide handled the stress of command under a simulation, he would see to it that she was never put in command again. On the other hand, if this were something out of the ordinary, as he was beginning to suspect, he might have to step in and take over. Wait a little longer, he counseled himself.
Geri noted the Colonel had not moved from his spot despite her request. If the defense forces were to have any chance she would need the Renown's support.
"Colonel, if you would please the fighters will require the support of the Renown to have any chance of success."
Bauer sat at the intelligence station observing the interaction between the command team. Once again he questioned DeSalle's motives given his obvious hesitation to Severide's request.
"The fighters have no chance of success," Zhara replied. "Not against that. Not unless you use subterfuge or hit and run tactics. We'll need more than one starship to have any chance at all. Have you considered employing the starbase's defenses?"
"That's not a bad idea, Lieutenant," Marcus said. He turned to Geri. "You're still in command of this exercise, commander. What think you?"
Zhara stood. "While the two of you decide what you're going to do, I'm going to the Renown." With that, she stood, bowed to the Colonel and Lieutenant Commander and left.
