To Drake it felt as if he hadn't left his Ready Room this past day. His only consolation was that, at least some progress was being made with Section 49 Alpha.

He addressed the officers presently, "Right, so what's the plan with regards to Colonel Treia?".

Tallus came walking in with a flustered look on his face. "Please forgive the intrusion sir. But I have placed Colonel Treia in my quarters. It is on high lockdown. I have also positioned two Marine's to watch guard constantly." Tallus said.

Drake wondered if this was all a bit over the top? The Marine Commanding Officer had been informed of the situation only a couple of hours previous.

"I have set the Marine Barracks as a safe haven for Lieutenant Adanyxia. Captain Dobbs' has no business being there, high ranking or not. I would no more allow him to as I would an Admiral. Lieutenant Adanyxia will be secure there. As for the girl, she can also remain in my quarters as well. I have been keeping close tabs on the Captain since his arrival. And I have not been discreet about it either. If he gets any ideas I want him to know that my Marine's will be there to stop him." Tallus said looking at the two men.

"Gentlemen! May I remind everyone that... as of this point in time... there is no solid evidence against Captain Dobbs that would stand up in a court of law. We are on the verge of persecuting one of Starfleet's most decorated veterans. Can we all, please, be very careful about how we go about this" Drake said in a raised voice.

"Before we go too much further," Kell cleared his throat and looked at Tallus. "Nyx, Lieutenant Adanyxia, has even less regard for the Colonel than she does for Cara right now." He looked at Tallus. "You know keeping her in the Marine barracks will be as detrimental as keeping her in a holosuite with Cara." He used their first names. After all it was their fate they were speaking of and neither of them was there to have any say. "Nyx can stay with me. I'll tell her I have direct orders not to leave her side. She won't like it but it will be more acceptable than the other alternatives. I can protect her. I have done so for several years and I'm well trained..." He looked at Drake again. "as you now understand...sir." After their discussion an hour ago, he'd given Drake an in-depth summary of his training.

"Unlike the others, I can calm her down without restraining her...even on her worst rampages." He added knowing that he would be in for an extreme battle when he got home, judging by her look and response to his revelation. "The priority is keeping the three of them safe, not persecuting the Captain." His words were benign but his thought was that he wouldn't mind seeing the captain disappear without a trace.

"If you feel that you can protect her then you can do so in my barracks." Tallus said turning to the Colonel. "I would not dare to accuse the Captain of anything. However, I also do not intend to just allow him to roam the station unwatched. I keep all visitors under a close eye. Some more than others. I just want to know that my men will be there in case of an emergency."

"Indeed" Drake looked down at his desk, momentarily, wondering how this was all going to end. "For the time being we will say that Colonel Treia has been transferred from the station. In the meantime, Colonel Karikkar will step up as Acting Executive Officer". He paused again. "If Dobbs is who you think he is, then that should slow him down".

Looking at Tallus for a moment he understood why Nyx didn't like him. He however was required to work with the man and maintain a mutual respect.
"Sir, with all due respect to Lt Colonel Karikkar, Nyx would be better suited with me in our quarters. You've seen her temper...or the result of it and keeping her a 'guest' of the marines under the watchful eye of Tallus...she'll never agree to it."

Tallus nodded his head. "Lieutenant Adanyxia's dislike of me is no secret. However, if she does 'lose her control' then she would be much better taken care of in the Marine barracks. More so I am not worried about her feelings about this matter. She can either take is as a direct order from her superior officer or an order from the man that has her 'collar' that she so fondly calls it." Tallus said not letting loose on inch. In his mind the matter was already settled. Unless if Colonel Drake said otherwise this is how it would be.

"Colonel Drake, I can keep Nyx safe. You have my word. Allow Nyx to stay with me. If I can't be there, I give you my word I'll tuck her the Marine barracks myself." Devyn was hoping for a compromise with Karikkar. "Surely it's more logical to compromise. You want to earn her trust and respect so you can train her...to free her from that 'collar'. Isn't that right?" Devyn knew what Karikkar wanted with Nyx. He knew that his interest in her wasn't what she thought, that his intentions were to help her.

"How Lieutenant Adanyxia feels about me is of no concern." Tallus said shaking his head.

"It isn't you I fear for this time." He shook his head. "She already thinks that she should confront Dobbs about his past and right now her frame of mind isn't exactly conducive to logical thinking." he looked at them both. They had to have picked up on her anger and the shock earlier. "She'll go off half cocked if we don't reign her in." Her targets could be anyone from himself to Cara, Tallus, even Dobbs himself.

"Gentlemen" Drake wanted to be anywhere else than here right now... was he qualified to be making personal decisions for someone that he barely knew? Then again, this was more than just personal.

"I think it's for the best if the good Doctor were to stay with Commander Kell, whilst he is not on duty. In the meantime, I have no issue with her remaining at the Marine Barracks". The decision wasn't an easy one, but Kell was correct... he knew Nyx and knew how to keep her temper in check. The last thing they needed was someone confronting Dobbs.... especially if this saga turned out to have any truth to it, whatsoever.

"Very well sir. " Tallus said nodding his head. "But, you return to duty you are to take her straight to the Marine Barracks. Colonel Treia will be safe in my quarters."

"I'll tuck her in myself." Devyn smiled. He could almost see the tantrum now. "And you agree that I have full and unrestrained access to her. I'm given whatever codes I need to get to her." He looked at Tallus knowing the man would have her quarters secured from any outsiders and that security codes would be put in place to keep her in as well as others out. He wasn't going to back down on this. He didn't want Nyx to feel like she was in prison. This was for her protection and her protection only. "And I agree if there are any questions of her security, whether I'm on duty or not, she'll be sequestered to the barracks immediately."

"I have no complaints." Tallus said taking a PADD from his pocket. "These are the codes. Memorize them and then erase the PADD. Do not give the codes to anyone. Not even the Colonel Treia. Once she leaves your side she is to remain in the barracks. My men will provide her with all that she needs. For security reasons my quarters are locked to all but me. The barracks are locked to all but a select few Marine's and now you." Tallus said turning to the Colonel. "I apologize sir but I have not given you clearance. If you need to enter there for some reason please call me. Security is very tight. I have left strict instructions that anyone trying to enter the barracks or my quarters is to be retained and held for questioning. Indiscriminately, that means you too sir. I will take any charges against my men on me. But if I let one thing slip then it could mean that security gets breached." Tallus said sighing.

"Commander, you will be able to enter your code at the doors. But you must do so every time. Two men are placed at the doors. If you just type in your code and the doors open for you then you will be free to enter. But if you enter it once incorrectly then you will be held. And anyone held will be brought straight to the security brig. Regardless of who it is. I will be notified immediately and will make my way to the brig also immediately. I cannot take any risks here. I hope you understand sir."

Drake scratched his head, considering whether all this really was necessary. This still all seemed to him to be a precaution against a threat that may or may not exist. If that threat was found to be untrue, then he would have to give serious consideration as to certain officers remaining on Protector.

He was also a bit taken aback by the fact that he was now not authorised to visit certain parts of the base. Naturally he could have insisted on having clearance, but he didn't think it necessary. He had far better things to do than visit Nyx in protective custody... he had to find out who had committed the monstrosities of the below decks.
