The day before had been an interesting one for Xavier. He had started his new assignment which should have been a good thing, until he met his new boss who turned out to be not that nice of a person. He spent the rest of the day trying to track down Operations technicians, most of whom wouldn't listen to him because of his rank, and getting lost on this labyrinth they called a Starbase. So to drown his sorrows Xavier ended up in one of the bars and ran into an old friend, which was quite a nice way to end such a horrible first day. However, Xavier had definitely drank too much and not only made a fool of himself in front of Giellun but was suffering with the worst hangover ever.

So this explained his early morning visit to the infirmary. He walked in and looked around for the Doctor. Xavier had read her bio in the long turbolift ride here and spotted her straight away. She was a lot shorter than him and it was easy to spot that hair anywhere. He made his way over to her and coughed to get her attention.

"Excuse me Doc, can I trouble you for a minute?"

"Why not. It's what I'm here for." Nyx smiled at the man. "What can I do for you?" She walked over toward him and instantly could smell the alcohol. "Ah, nevermind." She shook her head. "I think I can help you."

Xavier looked at the woman, puzzled for a moment and then it clicked. "Really? Do I smell that bad?"

"I'm sensitive to smells." Nyx shook her head. "The alcohol comes out in your sweat glands after a night of imbibing. So I'm assuming, you're suffering from the classic symptoms, dry mouth, headache, sensitivity to sound and light, nausea?" She asked as she lead the man to a bio bed.

Xavier looked at the woman as she led him to the biobed. "Yeah something like that," he said with a smirk on his face. "Are you a doctor or a telepath?"

"I'm experienced." she grinned. "I know the symptoms well...except chocolate milk and tequila are the only two substances that tend to do that kind of damage to me." she picked up a hypo and loaded it with something. "This will help with most of the symptoms. Time and hydration will help with the rest."

Xavier smiled, "it's always good having an experienced CMO on board." As the hypospray was injected, Xavier cringed slightly as the cool sensation flowed through his body. It was a feeling he couldn't get used to, no matter how often he tried. "Chocolate milk?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "That's a new one."

"Any chocolate really but making it chocolate milk dilutes the chocolate enough to make the sensation much more like drinking alcohol than say taking a strong drug." She grinned. "I could eat a chocolate bar and it would be like taking a large dose of amphetamines. But I prefer the sensation of mild to moderate intoxication. I believe it has something to do with my alter ego being from the Caniform class." She explained.

Xavier chuckled. "A large chocolate cake for your birthday it is." He was so distracted that he only just realised that his hangover symptoms had eased and he was feeling much better. "Whatever was in that hypo did the trick Doc, I'm feeling loads better thanks. I think I might just stick to chocolate milk on my next night out, anything to stop feeling like this."

"We all say that...and then.." She shrugged. "We all give in to that urge again. Just careful on how much you indulge and you won't feel so bad in the morning. You might even try drinking a glass of water before you turn in. It will prevent the dehydration." She offered the advice she always gave.

Xavier grinned. "Cheers Doc I'll keep that in mind for next time." He looked at the hypospray and back at the Doctor. "Now if have another one of those for pure embarrassment and total dread then that would make you the best doctor in Starfleet's history."

Nyx laughed. "And I would be my own best patient."

Xavier grinned. "Well I should be getting on with my day. Thank you Doctor, hopefully I'll see you around the Starbase soon."

"That would be nice Ensign." Nyx nodded. "I'm hoping to get through the mandatory physicals over the next few days and I may even get to see some of the base after that." She laughed. "Still waiting on a full staff at the moment though."

"Well if you ever want anyone to explore with then let me know, there might even be a chocolate milk in it for you," Xavier added with a wink.

"I'll keep that in mind Ensign." Nyx grinned as the man left. She hadn't been flirted with in a while and it was a nice feeling...even if she couldn't follow through.
