[CONTINUED]
[OLD]
Aboard the Renown, safe from the enemy's scanners, with an entire planet between them, Marcus listened. "The station's been boarded. How much you want to bet they've taken control of the fighter bays, too?"
[NEW]
"Any that haven't launched already," she answered.
=^= They may postpone launches but I doubt my boys and girls would let the fighters be taken. =^= Mabrade said with confidence. =^= Milady Rynn, as your Champion I shall go into battle and take the battle to them. =^= He winked. =^= You have a star ship; I have two squadrons, bet I can do more damage, loser buys the drinks?=^=
Zhara glanced at the Colonel and chuckled. "You're on."
=^=Knight's Flight Attack Pattern Shield and Spear. =^= Mabrade ordered.
Mabrade took the lead having his two squadrons fanning out behind him in two lines evenly spaced making a 'T' formation, the plan was to crest the planet as a cover like coming from the sun and each 'Line of fifteen odd fighters would make a run upon the targeted ship while the 'Cross Line would act like a screen to attack and CAP (Continuoius Air Patrol) defending the rear guards. The stratigy would be to attack the rear elemets since most of the focus of the enemy shields would be the frontal shields facing the station.
=^= Let the Games Begin. =^= Mabrade had a sly smile grow on his face with the thought of the attack; modern warfare did not consider the emplyment of fighters; like old fashion calvary, to attack siege emplacements making war on a castle. =^= We fight to get our fellow knights able to launch, if it hinders their launch they will feel our wrath.=^= A full satisfied smile formed. =^= Dive!=^=
The Lead fighter continued ahead to the Capitol ship looming before him, loosening his torpedo after the phaser strike he banked up as the second fighter seemed to continue the phaser barrage without ceasing while the second torpedo struck the shield and it banked away as the third fighter of continous fire and torpedo impacts were beginning to take a toll upon the single targeted shield when the forth and fith Fighters keprt the shield from recycleing and the torpedoes while smaller in size teh greater number quickly dropped the shield.
The 'T' Line of fighters scattered in pairs to engaged any fighters and smaller craft, easily taking out the Delta Flyers and shuttles that were the rear guard, the fighters were on the attack of the station and therfore unaware of the battle raging on their rear guard. The fighters cleaned a path of smaller craft while the 'Torpedo squadron hammered the first ship and repeat the process with the latter half of the squadron until a second ship fell to the attacks.
The First fighter waves had wroght some damage and brought a double edged battle on oppowsing fronts.
=^= Fighters to Renown. =^= MaBrade called out. =^= we opened the door you coming to the party?=^=
"We wouldn't miss it!" came the response.
[[Ops]]
"Ma'am, intruders on Deck three twenty one, section fifty two." a bridge officer reported.
"Are their any of our personnel in that area?" Severide replied.
"Negative ma'am." Came the response.
"Seal the area and shut down all power to that section including life support." Severide responded keeping her eye on the main viewer.
"Pardon me ma'am?" The officer replied flabbergasted.
"Did I stutter?" Geri shot back coldly.
"Ma'am, you'll kill them..." the officer replied.
"I'm sure they have the same sentiment towards you should they reach ops. Shall we test the theory?" Geri replied.
"No ma'am." the officer replied solemnly complying with the order.
[Renown]
The Renown swooped out to the enemy's left flank from behind the dark side of the planet, quantum Torpedoes blazing, phasers firing, at full impulse, dodging in and out of flight paths, doing its best to turn the enemy fleet on its head. The fleet responded violently, immediately concentrating their fire on the Defiant class variant. This took some of the heat off the station, which was having its own problems dealing with intruders. A withering salvo from the lead enemy ship sent a shock wave through the Renown's superstructure.
"Number four starboard shield's gone, Colonel!" the officer manning the tactical station reported, unable to keep the fear from her voice.
"Steady, ensign. We'll make it." Marcus was worried, but he knew better than to show it. "Come about to heading one zero three, Mark six, and initiate attack pattern Phi Epsilon nine. Protect those fighters."
"Colonel, I just received a message from the Protector. Weapon systems are down. I suggest we use guerrilla tactics rather than a direct assault."
Marcus nodded. "Do it. Evade, extend, and escape."
