Location: Greystone Quarters
Timeline: Current
Lys stepped into her quarters after her time with the Counselor she felt drained in every sort of the word that could occur. Emotionally, physically all felt like a washed out color. She slipped into loose dark chocolate pants and a soft sky blue shirt. She found that torn flannel shirt of her deceased husband’s and tugged it on over the blue shirt it seemed to clash in so many ways and yet it was so comfortable. It in itself did not ever judge what she wore with it or didn't it never judged if she had had dirt under her nails. Which was often.
Lys acquired a steaming bowl of chicken noodle soup and sat down at her table she swirled the spoon around in the soup and watched as the chicken broth separated its oil from the water and then swirled back again. She dropped her spoon as memories flooded once more and tear sprang into her dark eyes her forehead puckered as she placed her head in the palm of her hands and started to cry again.
Lys didn’t really know what else to do any more the Counselor was right she had let this go for far too long. But was this the answer? Sit and cry in her soup? Lys didn’t think so. She shoved the bowl away from her and stood up and moved to the couch she grabbed her throw as she sat down and drew it over her knees and legs that she had drawn up close to her body. This was the fourth or fifth night in a row that she had started to eat and could not get more than a few bites down. Tonight nothing.
She rested her chin on her knees and absently started to run her fingers over the throw, it was one made of a wool type material, soft, warm inviting. Suddenly she stopped as she realized what it was that she was doing she shook her head and drew her arms around her legs and laid her cheek on her knees and closed her eyes.
Soon she was fast a sleep, and in her delightfully safe place. It had two small ponds with a small path that ran between the two. It had always seemed to her that the ponds had to have been fed form an intake of water from far underground the fish there grew big and healthy. Thick in girth for a fish. There were numerous bugs that skated across the surface of the water and the occasional splash could be heard as a fish jumped for one and took it down for its meal.
Lys walked quietly along the edge of one of the ponds, it’s had pebbles of a good portion of the beach, as if ran water had run off from the steep hill into the pond over and over, year after year. The trees that surrounded the area were tall and strong. A breeze rolled the tall grasses and they made a soft whispering sound like shush, shush. Lys looked up at the sky it was blue in color and soft clouds floated through it lazily.
