Location: SB Protector/ Akadia
Timeline: Current
Wicker looked up at Alpha and gave him a small whine. She felt he was gong off without her. Just her and Woman Smell. She knew that would be a bad idea. Very bad. So wout have to go to the prison place. be kept behind bars. In a cage. Bad BAD Alpha.
Even his giving her her favorite treat, playing fetch and scartching her ears were not enough to make up for it. The only thing worse was BATH or wrestling smells.
So when he called her she just lay there an whined. When he reached down to get her she even growled.
"What's going on girl?" he heard her say. "We're going to find Sam then we're going home. You need to come with me."
She rolled to her feet, all four of the them and began running towards the door.
Brian headed to Sam's cabin backpack over one shoulder, sword on his back and enough hidden weapons to arm a small milita. He even let Wicker lead him. He was dressed in charcoal grey pants and black shirt and was about as out of uniform as he could possibly be.
He rang the the chime to cabin
Samantha was packing up her back pack... if they opened their packs sides by side Sam and Brian would probably find a lot of similiar items in their packs. She had extra weapons, medical supplies and a few other tactical necessaries. She was dressed in tactical cargo pants and a black shirt that was form hitting and hugged her hips. She had her shoulder rig on, that held her daggers. When the door chimed Samantha didn't even look up from what she was doing. "Come in." She said.
Brian, led by Wicker walked into the rom.
Wicker immediately broke away seeing of woman smell had any goodies. She wagged her tail was sitting at her feet looking up expectingly.
"Are you ready Sam?" he asked, "You know once we leave there's no turning back. Are you sure you're really willing to go through with this?"
Samantha always had a treat or two on her now a days... She knelt down and offered the big bone treat to Wicker on an open palm. She was petting Wicker softly when he asked that. "You're my partner, where you go. I go." She offered.
"Okay, I'm glad to hear you say that, but we won't exactly be coloring on to the lines. It could get a little messy."
Samantha nodded. "We've been in the simulator a few times, we have a basic idea. I'm ok, Brian." Samantha offered as she stood up and went back to packing her bag. "This is something you have to do. I understand that completely. And I support it. No matter how messy it gets."
"Good your support means a lot to me. Don't worry though, i'm going to make sure I'm the one that kills him. I don't want you to risk your career."
Samantha pulled her backpack on. "My career? Commander... what about your career?"
"What about it? I prefer justice, Akdadian justice to a career. Of course I prefer not getting caught the most."
Samantha smirked at him. "Then lets not get caught and career won't be an issue." She sighed as she took one look around her comfy room. "Ready?"
He took a moment to find her with his senses then leaned in and stole a kiss. "I am now, we have a runabout waiting, let's get going."
Samantha smirked at him and looked at Wicker. "I promise to bring him back in one piece, girl." She offered. It was the best she could do, she was sure that Wicker was aware they were going away and she wasn't liking it. So Sam tried to offer her as much comfort as possible.
Brian gave her a quizzical look, "Sam, she's coming along, that's why I brough her here. Otherwise I would have dropped her off. I figured she would come in handy.
Let's go."
Samantha started towards her door. "You think bringing her is a good idea?" She offered. "A terran dog on Akadia is pretty much a dead give away, no pun intended."
"That would be true if we were going to Akadia, but that's not where he is right now. At least from the intel I've got they are on Earth."
Samantha stopped dead in her tracks. "Earth?!" She hadn't expected him to say Earth. They'd practiced on Akadia, they'd planned for Akadia. And then there was the fact that he'd been using Intelligence other than her... which was more funny then frustrating, but Earth! Samantha hadn't been back to Earth since Academy... she didn't actually care much for Earth. But she could understand the reasoning behind it.
On Earth Akadia law didn't apply. If they were caught they'd be tried by Sol Law. It was murder on Earth, not justice. She let out a long irritated sigh. "Well that was clever of him wasn't it."
"Of course he's clever, he's a Windsong. But I, well we are just a little bit more clever. I may need to use your eyes from time to time. A pet dog isn't going to attract attention, a guide dog will."
She nodded her head. "Course." Samantha got a sick feeling in her stomach when she thought about her own family on Earth. But no, she shook the thoughts clear. There was no way they'd be in harms way, clever not stupid.
They walked the corridors, Samantha's thoughts had to adjust from Akadia to Earth. "Any idea were on Earth they are?" It was a good question. It was a big planet. She asked as they made their way to the Runabout that was waiting for them. "Am I driving?"
"Yes you're driving and he's moving around alot. Last that I heard he was in a place called New York City."
Samantha knew of it. The city of New York was still one of the biggest cities in the world. She walked into the hangar bay with Brian and Wicker taking into account how this was going to effect their planning. "Well it could be worse, he could be on Kronos."
"True," he replied as the stepped into the shuttle. I am afraid you'll have to fly this thing, the Federation has this silly little rule about pilots needing to be able to see."
Wicker looked up at Alpha and gave a low growl.
Samantha smirked she knew how to pilot the runabout as she climbed in and dropped her pack on the flooring in a corner were it wouldn't be in the way. "Come on Wicker, you know he's not saying you couldn't do it, he's just saying Starfleet doesn't think you could do it. Completely different." She insisted. "I've seen you do thing Admirals can't do."
She wagged her tail at her. She knew that Alpha was a good judge of character, Woman smell was smart. Perhaps more of a smart tail thatn Alpha. She liked her even if the two of them did wrestle too much.
"Well, let's plot a course for Earth, best speed possible. I don't want my dear brother slipping through the cracks."
Samantha smirked over her shoulder at him, it was habit and she knew full well he couldn't see that mischievous grin that was plastered all over her face. She set course, made communications contact with the starbase, and got clearances they needed to leave. Within minutes the runabout was cutting through space on it's way to earth. It would take about two weeks or more to get back to Earth at their best speeds, perhaps longer if they rant into trouble. There was a matter Samantha wanted to bring up, something she knew Brian would want to know about, but it lingered in her mind.
She was lost on telling him now... or telling him after the fact, there minds had become so connected that she had forced the matter so for down that had been times in the last few days she'd forgotten. Now in the silence of the runabout it was threatening to surface. "Brian.... what is the plan once we're in New York City?" Yeah, she told herself distract yourself with the mission.
"He is staying some place called Greenwich Village. That's all I know, but I suppose if we can't find him we'll have to discretely hire a private investigator."
Samantha nodded, she set the runabout to auto pilot and came back into the compartment with giving wicker a quick rub behind the ear as she murmured something about wishing her luck. "Brian, I need to bring up an unexpected development." She said as she came over to him. She sat down next time him. She found his hands and slid hers into his, she was terrified of telling him and she didn't know why. Terrified he'd make her sit this one out maybe. Kale and Brian's brother definitely use it against him if they found out. But that was huge IF.
"What development? he asked her intrigued. There was a suspicion in the back of his mind, but he could be wrong. Probably was wrong. He gave her a reassuring smile as he held her hand."Whatever it is, it will be okay."
Samantha took in a deep breath. "I'm pregnant, Brian." She said those words and found herself holding her breath. What was he going to say.... or do? Or both?!
He turned and cocked his head, a slow smile emerging on his lips. "You mean I'm going to be a father?" he asked.
Samantha liked the small smile that was slowly creeping across his features, "Yes," She said softly. "Are you all right with that?"
"Of course I am. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise, but it is. A pleasant one that is. I am a little concerned about the timiing is the only thing. Going after my brother and his lover isn't the safest thing to do and I wouldn't want you or the baby injured or hurt.
Do you know whether ii is going to be a boy or a girl?"
She completely agreed with him, timing was definitely not on their said. "I agree about the timing but I wasn't going to let you face them alone. And we've been practicing. I won't put myself in any situation that puts the baby at risk." She offered with a smile. "It's too early to be sure about the baby's gender, I'd have told you as soon as I found out but I was afraid you'd be disappointed."
"Why would I be disappointed. I love you Sam and while the idea of being a father is, well a little scary, I can't wiat and I can't wait to do it with you."
She smiled and hugged him gently. "Maybe disappointed isn't the right word, hesitant fits better." Sam said. "With Richardo and Kale... work, Station life, starfleet could re-assign either of us at any time." She admitted some of her fears. "I love the prospect of raising a child with you, Brian." She chuckled. "What will your parents think?"
"I'm more worried about what they think of something happening to Ricardo, they will be thrilled and there is of course one way to avoid our being transferred away afrom each other.."
Samantha frowned slightly. "But you're within your right according to Akadian law."
"MY right yes and I am sure they will eventually be okay with it especially after what he did to Morgan and myself, but he is still their son too."
Samantha frowned. "He did this to you, and I'm sure when they learn that he did this to Morgan, they'll side with you." She offered. "You are their son too, Brian." Samantha explained further her point. He was a starfleet officer, a Commander at that. A diplomat, and now soon to be a father. Samantha smiled. "I'm sure they're very proud of you, and this won't tarnish that."
"Not in the long run no. He unstrapped himself taking her had as he did so, then went down on one knee. "This may not be the most romantic place to pose this question, but life is too short to wait. "Samantha O'Dell. Will you marry me?"
Samantha was taken back, floored even. She sank to her knees in front of him, Akadian's didn't get married, she knew that going into their relationship with him. She'd accepted it. "Brian....." She felt that tearful lump forming in her throat, she knew what he was doing, what he was trying to do. Follow Earth customs, her customs. Samantha felt a tear rolling down her cheek. "Brian you don't have to conform to Terran traditions, I love you. I'm happy to be bonded to you in Akadian traditions."
He smiled at her, but didn't bother to rise. "Actually marriage is also an Akadian tradition, not just an earthly one. It's just our marriages tend to be open ones. Bonding is not just for lovers, its for close friends too. Paul and I are bonded but I have not nor would I share a bed with him. Bonding and marriage in my culture means monogomy, unless both partners agree."
She smirked. "And you want to marry me?"
"I believe, I just said that did I not?" he said with a half smile.
She leaned forward into him and kissed his lips. "yes, of course."
"Do you want to put the ship on autopilot and celebrate a little?" he asked after the kiss had broken.
Sam giggled slightly. "The ship is on auto pilot." She kissed him again.
He returned the kiss, letting his hands slip inside her uniform shirt moving to undo her bra. Samantha felt his hands against her skin, her heart was instantly racing, Sam found herself closing her eyes, they were right there on the floor of the runabout.
He lifted her uniform shirt off then did the same for himself. He began kissing down her neck, his kisses were like fire against her skin she was instantly intoxicated by his touch and wanted more. She found his touch intensely arousing, whether it was because she knew it was the only way he could see her or because she knew he was memorizing her though touch something about it made her enjoy every second every inch of his hands. He was wonderful to be against, as they knelt on the decking touching each other probing, kissing. Samantha could only smirk at the idea of a Brian jr on the station.
Soon they were completely undressed and their probing and kissing continued unabated for some time. Wicker used to their "wrestling" by now simply ignored them and curled up and fell asleep.
When Samantha came to the Protector she was determined to make a name for herself after the accident. After her failures, she had never in a million years saw getting married, promoted and having a family as part of those ambitious but now, now that they were right in front of her she was only too happy to have them. She couldn't fathom life without Brian in it. She welcomed every moment the future threw her way. Through the throes of "celebration" Samantha loved every second, every moment. She enjoyed the idea that she would grow bigger, round and that her uniform would have to grow with her.
Samantha was sweating as they exhausted their celebration hours later, She kissed him softly as he collapsed upon her. "I do believe you've outdone yourself this time, Commander." She teased.
He grinned at her, "I am Akdadian," he said, "We live to outdo ourselves."
Samantha laughed softly and kissed his cheek. "Memo to me." She laid there with his warmth around her. "I'm half tempted to suggest we forget Kale and just do this for the next few weeks."
"Well let's get rid of my brother and Kale and then I can actually see you when we do this and we can do it the rest of our lives."''
Samantha smirked. "what if you don't like what you see?" She doubted that was possible but there was a small twinge of fear about her voice that said otherwise.
"I really don't think that is going to be a probelm." he told her, "I am in love with you, no matter what you look like."
She smiled and kissed his cheek again. "I love you too."
"Well then let's go finish this so we can get on with our lives."
Traveling seemed like it would never end. Weeks, and Samantha took every chance to train that she could. Even though she was pregnant she wouldn't let it interfere with her abilities to help Brian bring his brother to justice... even if it was Akadian justice. Earth finally loomed on their sensors 2 weeks after they'd left the Protector.
Samantha was at the helm, they were on Sol's sensors too and had already been asked to identify themselves.
A few hours later they had landed at Star Fleet Headquarters, cleared all the administrative hurddles and were in a hotel room over looking the Golden Gate Bridge catching up on some much needed rest. The next day they would depart for New York City.
"Well you're going to have to show me around, I've only been outside of the San Francisco area a handful of times and none ot those were to New York city."
Samantha looked at him as if she'd seen a Klingon behind him... "What makes you think I've been there?" She asked. Samantha was a Kentucky girl from a farm in the mountains. She'd gone into starfleet against her parents wishes... she knew nothing of New York City
"Oh, you haven't?" Brian asked. " Well I guess we will just have to explore it together. Adventrues are always fun.".
Sam smirked and nodded her head and she snuggled up against him. "Everything with you is an adventure." The sleep would come quickly. She wanted to enjoy as much of it as possible because she knew once they were on the hunt, sleep would be rare.
When Brian awoke a single ray of sunlight was peeking through the curtians His legw were hopelessly entangled with Sam's not that he minded, he rolled over slightly and kissed her cheek.
Her smooth soft legs slid against his in the sheets. Her blonde hair fell down her back and over her shoulders, hiding the majority of a scar from her childhood. His lips woke her gently, blissfully. The warmth of his loving effection brought an involuntary moan from her. She didn't want to get up, she didn't want to move. Samantha was completely enjoying the lack of work, the reality of being off work and yet with that reality came the weight of their objective.
Samantha's eyes opened slowly and looked up at him. "Morning, babe." She said softly.
"Good morning," he replied almost happily. His fingers found hers and entwined them. "I would dearly love to stay here in bed with you all day, but we need to get going. I'm sorry. But on the other hand we are going to spend the rest of our lives together."
Samantha sat up slowly withdrawing her legs from his, there was a heavy truth in his words. "Don't be sorry, I can think of no place else I'd rather be." She offered with a sober tone. "Lets go find them and put an end to this."
Brian nodded as he found the edge of the bed and sat up. "Did you see where I dropped my pants. Last night was all kind of a blur. I don[t remember all the details.though I do remember the significant ones. Very well."
Samantha giggled softly, a short amused sound that seemed nearly carefree. "I think they're at the foot of the bed." She didn't want to get out from under the covers with him, but knew it was something that needed to be done or they would never move, and worse, Kale and Ricardo would be on the move. She slide her legs out from under the covers untangled her fingers from his and exposed her soft skin to the cool morning air of the hotel room. Their clothes were scattered about the room, mostly around the foot of the bed, but there a few odd pieces that had managed to migrate further towards the door.
Samantha picked up his pants next her shirt and laid them on the bed for him. "I'll get the shower going, could be the last one we have for a few days."
He nodded. "I'll let you go first. I'd join you but then we'd be here for hours."
Samantha smiled at that, it was very true. "To be continued then." She offered and went to get showered up before getting dressed. It was only minutes. A military shower as it were. But she was in clean out and dressed in under 15 minutes.
Brian found his way to the shower and took a little longer than his fiance. But he was done, out and ready to go within half an hour. Accompanied by Wicker and Sam he checked out of the hotel and started walking towards the nearest shuttle station. "Do you want to eat something?" he asked as they passed a restaurant of some type. "I can smell something good."
Samantha smirked, "You know you're going to miss that sense of smell when you get your eye sight back." She teased. Still she was eating for two so it was probably important not to skip on breakfast. As they back tracked a little to the diner his nose had picked at Sam grimaced. "There are a lot of fleeters in there Brian." She offered. If any one of them took notice of them, someone would know they were planetside... it could complicate things.
"I doubt any of them would recognize us, the Federation is a big outfit. Still better to be safe than sorry. I guess if we find a transporter station we can grab some breakfast in New York City. I'm sure they have restaurants there."
Samantha looked at him as the intelligence officer between the two of them she didn't want to take chances, honestly she wanted them both to enjoy their careers after this mess was cleaned up if that was even possible. Avoid as much brass and fleet as possible would go a long way into keeping that hope alive. "I think that would be best."
Samantha tugging on his arm playfully and followed the street signs a few blocks to a small transporter station. It was early enough in the day that there wasn't really anyone there. She'd never been to New York City, this small town country girl and she wasn't entirely sure what to expect, she thought about it as they walked into through the glass doors of the building. The Transport station was part of a larger business complex of some kind. Most bigger cooperations had them, simply because it was easier to have a transporter close by and do business around the world than it was to have to go someone were else for the meeting.
"New York City." Samantha told the transporter operator as she and Brian climbed up onto the platform.
Within seconds their atoms had been deconstructed then reconstructed and they were standing in the lobby of Grand Central Station
