Nyx hummed an unfamiliar tune as she prepared dinner for herself and Devyn. She'd been happy and productive today. There'd been no recurring dreams last night of Dobson trying to cut her baby from her...and no residual pains. She'd been up all morning cleaning their small quarters in the Marine barracks and packing their things in the hopes of talking Devyn and Tallus into letting her return to her own quarters. Her plan was simple. She'd keep her cool and let them know it was time to take the guard off and allow her the freedom's that she deserved.
The man they were protecting her from was long gone after all and it was time to prepare a home for her child. Now that they were married, She and Devyn were qualified for a family quarters and Nyx was ready to prepare their daughter's nursery. And although she'd have to be careful not to say it out loud, she was damned if she was going to bring a child into the world while leashed to a Marine barracks under lock and key...or anywhere that Cara would be able to get her hands on their daughter.
Devyn came in quietly and listened to the tune that his wife was humming. He smiled at how happy she seemed. Sneaking up behind her, he wrapped his arms around her belly and leaned in to kiss her neck. "You sound happy today." He was glad to see her this way. "Did you have a good day?"
"Good as could be expected." She commented. "No work so I was under lock and key at home. It was a productive day." She smiled. "I got everything packed and ready."
"Packed and ready for what?" Kell leaned against the door frame and folded his arms in front of him as he eyed his bride curiously. "Where do you think you're going?"
"We're going...where do I think we're going?" She corrected him. "I want to go home. Dobson is gone. He hasn't been detected in weeks. I'm not in any danger." She plead her case. "I'm going to have this baby any day now and I don't want our daughter to be born in the Marine barracks...I don't care if they've been generous hosts or not."
Kell shook his head and moved from the door. Wiping his hand over his face, he took a deep breath and thought for a moment. "IF and I do mean IF, I agree to this, I'm going to want you under protection. We move into my quarters in the Security wing. It's big enough for all of us."
"As long as it isn't here." Nyx followed Kell as he paced. She wasn't going to let him turn from her. He needed to see that she meant what she said. She wasn't going to stay in the Marine barracks...orders or not. "But we should move into the family quarters above the promenade. They're beautiful and finally all refurbished."
He smiled and wrapped his arms around his wife. "When I know it's safe. I'll move you and our baby into whichever quarters you choose. For now humor me and stay at my place near security."
"Anywhere." Nyx grinned. Before she'd been attacked, she'd stayed in Dev's quarters more than she'd stayed in her own so that wasn't going to be a problem. "When can we leave?"
"How about now?" He smiled as he shook his head. He'd been easily defeated by her mood and he loved seeing her happy. It was too easy to give in.
"That's perfect and since everything is packed, we'll have time to go to the circus tomorrow after my shift ends." Nyx grinned.
