Cara looked down at her new daughter and tried to smile reassuringly as they stood in front of a door that would end either with her taking on a new job or with her in prison and Jess either in a lab or in the 'deep freeze'.

Swallowing nervously she knocked and waited for the CO and XO to let her in.

Seeing the two men in the room she stopped dead mentally gaping at the betazoid Major who was in her opinion gorgeous unable to stop herself sending a mental ~wow~.

Kyle felt a strong attraction, but since his mental skills were lacking he could not tell to whom. Kyle said, "Major Treia, I am Major Kyle Green. How are you?"

"A ... Uh ... Little nervous about the outcome of this meeting sir." She looked him in the eye and sent ~ Please don't make me send her back~

Kyle understood and said, "Please have a seat. " Kyle saw the little girl and asked, "What is her name?"

Cara gave the little girl a gentle hug and sat down lifting her onto her knee. "Jessie ... Jess say hi to Major Green and Lt Colonel Drake Sweetie."

Snuggling in against Cara Jess waved shyly at them "H... Hi..."

Kyle smiled at her and then turned to the Major and said, "What brings you here?"

Cara swallowed nervously "I have something to tell you both before you decide if you want me here."

Ashton wasn't used to seeing officers as nervous as this... was certainly wasn't used to having children about.

He noticed that she still hadn't taken Major Green up on his offer of a seat. He gestured to the sofa.

"What seems to be the problem?", He asked, inquisitively.

Swallowing Cara asked "Do you remember a mission about a year ago where some marines found a doctor had been experimenting with augments? Supposedly there were no survivors of his experiment?"

Kyle thought and did remember something like that and said, "yes, I remember hearing about that."

"There was one survivor ... its just ... Starfleet wasnt informed about her. They would have put her in a room somewheere and locked away the key like they did with Soong's kids." She looked at Jess and said "Jess is the only surviving child of the experiments."

Kyle was surprised and said, "So she is an augment then, is that what you're saying?"

Cara nodded "Yeah .. from what I could work out she has increased strength and reflexes, high IQ, and will probably be a strong telepath and empath when shes older."

Ashton felt like his head was about to explode. He had been back in Starfleet officially for less than two weeks and it seemed that his posting was full of crazy people bent on breaking Starfleet rules!

"Major..." He exhaled loudly, unsure of what to say next. Just over a year ago he would have already made the call to Security to send a detail up and would now be on the frequencies to Starfleet Command, informing them of the situation. However a lot had changed in a year... a lot of new perspectives had arisen. It was very unpleasant having loved ones removed from your side. He changed his tone of voice.

"Major... as far as I am concerned... this conversation never took place" A weak smile tried to present itself on his face.

Cara bit her lip her eyes watering in relief as she sagged into the seat she had been sitting in. A sob nearly escaped as she realised that for the first time in a year the two of them were safe. Burying her head in Jessies hair she just took slow deep breaths trying to control her reaction. "Thank you sir." Lifting her head finally she let them both see the relief and greatful hug she gave Jess.

Looking at Kyle she waited for his reaction.

Kyle said, "As long as she isn't a danger to anyone I have no issues either."

Major Green said, "Was there anything else, Major?"

Cara shook her head no. Major Green said, "Okay then, dismissed."

Nodding she stood and left giving the two men a nod.
