Location: Deck 200: Arrivals Lounge 5, Level 8, Alpha Section
Timeline: MD-01: 1545 Hours

ON:

Ashton burst into a small jog as he exited the turbolift and entered the corridor that would lead him down to the alpha section of the eighth level of the interior space dock.

He had agreed to meet Cara at 1530 Hours in Arrival Lounge 8 - he was now fifteen minutes late. He suspected that his colleague would have been there at exactly 1530 Hours... not a minute before and not a minute after. He was also aware that she probably wouldn't expect Ashton to get there until at least ten past... she knew he was the type of person to be late.

As he turned the corner to enter the lounge he slowed to a paced walk. Cara was standing at the main doors and looked at the incoming Ashton with a raised eyebrow, but said nothing.

"Did I miss anything?" he asked, trying not to sound out of breath.

Cara shook her head no with a little grin "No sir ... lucky for us they are running late themselves." She gave him a gentle tease.

Brian arrived just minutes behind Drake still nursing a sore shoulder from his time with Samanatha in the holodeck. She had really put him through the ringer, what with those safety protocols at such a low level. They had been in real danger more than once and Brian could not have been happier

He had brought Wicker along with him this time. He had not been in this part of the station before and needed her help, but more importantly He figured that Dobbs would take more of an interest in him, if he appeared to be more helpless than he was.

With a soda in one hand, Paul walked back into the terminal he'd left a quarter-hour before and blinked in surprise at Drake and Brian now gathered where just Cara had stood earlier.

"All here for the Yorktown welcoming party?" he asked and took a sip from his soda.

Paul had been at the periphery of Brian's awareness. Their bond was not complete, not without the approval of the Elders and the agreement of both men, but there was still an awareness that was uncanny. Just as Brian had predicted, they were inside of each other's heads even when they didn't want to be.

Cara nodded "Yeah." She was holding onto the fact that she wasnt alone and Brian and Paul wouldnt let anything happen to her.

"How's Jessie?" Paul asked. "Is she sleeping better?"

"She is a little ... and shes having a few days with her aunt and uncle ... they promised a trip to holodeck disneyland."

Paul gave Cara a blank look. "What's that?"

"Lieutenant Commander Ferrok and I know each other from the Academy" Drake leaned towards Treia, "although I haven't seen him since just after we were given our first assignment orders..." for a second his mind started wondering back to the mischievous activities he got up to in the Academy before refocusing his attention on the expected arrivals.

"Make sure that Lieutenant Lee has everything that he needs for the Yorktown's refit... I want her to move like a bat out of Hell and fight like a dog in a corner". He frowned at himself, not entirely knowing why he used the phrases... he hated phrases!

"Indeed, Ferrok and I never served together - simply knew each other in the Academy... more drinking friends than anything else... such as so many where when we first join the service! He's done well for himself" Ashton looked around the arrivals lounge and finished the eye tour on Cara, "although I think we've done better, though!"

As the two officers continued to smile at the prospect and excitement of their time aboard Protector, the figures of what Senior Staff there were on the Yorktown, emerged on the relatively small doorway in front of them.

Ferrok emerged behind an officer dressed in teal, and embraced Drake.

"My friend! How good it is to see you after so long! How have you been, Drake?" Ferrok bellowed, happy to see his old friend.

Ashton was momentarily taken aback by the strength with which the Klingon held him with - he slapped him on the back a few times before he let him go.

"It's good to see you as well, Ferrok... or should I say, Commander Ferrok?" He smiled at the relatively young, but hugely built, Klingon.

Taking a step back, he extended his arm out to his Senior Staff, one by one.

"Allow me to introduce Major Cara Treia, my Executive Officer. Lieutenant Command Windsong, our Chief Diplomatic Officer. Lieutenant Graves, our Chief Counsellor and Major Karikkar, our Marine Commanding Officer. Sergeant Winchester, you already know." He smiled as the Klingon shook each one by the hand. He felt a small sense of pride in being able to introduce the capable group of officers, as his senior staff.

"Commander, I believe you were transporting Captain Dobbs... is he still aboard?"

"Colonel Drake!" A teal uniformed man came almost running up to him with a grin on his face that could change a suicidal man's mind. "I've heard so much about you, it's such a pleasure!" he said as he grabbed Drake's hand and arm and started shaking violently.

"Ah... Captain Dobbs, I presume, welcome aboard Protector" He weakly smiled back, not wanting to compete.

For all intents and purposes, the man looked pretty ordinary for a 'hero of Starfleet'. He was of medium build and medium height, brandishing slightly tanned skin with silvery grey hair. No one would have thought this was a battle-hardened scientist.

Tallus stood where he was not showing the emotion that could usually be seen on his face. He didn't want the 'visitors' to see that he was anything but a typical Vulcan.

Paul shook hands with Dobbs when he was introduced. "I'm glad to meet you, Captain. I enjoyed your papers on the advances you made in prosthetic hands."

Standing back with Tallus Cara took a slow breath and calmed her nerves "Pleased to meet you Captain." She hoped like hell he didnt recognise her.

Brian nodded and smiled at the man, and pulled hard on Wicker's harness as she growled low in her throat. He held out his free hand, "Captain Dobbs, welcome to the Protector I can't tell you how thrilled we all are to see you and I hope that we are able to take care of you in the manner you so richly deserve,"

"Well, let's go to Ops" Ashton smiled at the whole group.
