Over Security

ON:

Major Green was in the Operations Station of the base. He tapped his commbadge and said, "Computer, locate Captain Teague.

The computer chirped, "Captain Teague is in the Chief Security Office, deck 576."

Kyle acknowledged the computer and made his way to the office. He wanted to go over certain things with the Captain. He saw the door and rang the chime to enter, to not to disturb the Captain.

Adam glanced at the door, sat his PADD down, "Enter."

On that word Major Green entered the room and said, "Hello, Captain. How are things in security?"

Adam stood, straightened, "Sir. Security is going well sir."
It wasn't until after he had stood and spoken that he realized that was the enlisted man in him and that he was an officer. It happened to him all the time.

Kyle smiled and thought it was good to see that respect happened been lost in the marine ranks and said, "At ease Captain. How are things in your department?"

"Aye sir." Adam said as he eased himself back into his chair, "Things are not too bad. I've got report after report to file. Security on a station is vastly different than on a ship. I spent a total of six years on ships, but this is my first assignment to a station."

Kyle smiled and said, "I understand what your saying, Captain two different beasts completely. What measures do you have in place on the station?

"Three shift rotations and 2 additional guards on any and all sensitive areas." Adam said, "I figured that should provide enough security while we aren't in an alert status."

Kyle said, "I see, Captain. Are the guards armed at all?"

"I believe that all Security personnel on guard duty should be armed, however, without explicit permission from the Captain, I am unable to order all security to be armed, however, I do have all security in sensitive areas to be armed." Adam responded.

Major Green said, "I understand, Captain. I am authorizing you to have your guards with at least type two phasers. They must be set to stun unless otherwise needed."

Adam nodded, "Aye sir. I'll issue the order and have all my security personnel report to the armories."
He sat back and made a few notations on a PADD, "Tell me Major, how are our fellow Marines?"

Kyle smiled and said, "They are good, Captain. I have to remind myself that this is a Marine Starbase. Typically starfleet officers run it and marines either protect it or do the real dirty work. How are you liking the assignment?"

"Well sir, like I said, report after report after report. I've spent more time behind this desk than I would have shipboard." Adam said with a smile, "But all-in-all, I can't complain much."

Kyle said, "Good, glad to hear that, Captain. Have you ever taken over a hostile ship or facility?"

Adam nodded solemnly, "I have, on occasions. I helped take a Jem-Ha'Dar Operation outpost. I've retaken several ships as well. When I was in the enlisted ranks, I saw quite a bit of fighting, against the Breen, and the Dominion. I still remember what they told me during basic.... 'Every Marine, regardless of MOS is first and foremost.... A Rifleman.' And trust me, I was a Rifleman." Adam chuckled slightly, "Doesn't help that I was an Infantryman to begin with."

Major Green was impressed with the Captain's background and knew that he would be a valuable combat officer. Major Green asked, "Do you have any shipboard tactical experience, Captain?"

Adam nodded again, "I served on the Kitty Hawke and the Odin. Both of which has seen space combat as well as borg engagements. Including being boarded by Borg."

Major Green was curious and said, "The borg?! What happened there, Captain?" Kyle never had a chance to fight the borg and was curious.

"They transwarped into our sector, two Borg Spheres. Laid in an attack pattern, engaged us and decided to beam onto the ship. On every deck. We engaged them and managed to repel them, but we did so at a great cost." Adam said grimly.

Major Green said, "I understand. I was wondering would you like to serve as my XO on the USS Hotspur?"

Adam thought for a moment and then breathed in slowly, "I would be honored sir." he said with a nod and a smile.

Kyle smiled and said, "Good. You and I will go to the ship later and get familiar with her. I am going to meet the other department heads."

Adam nodded, "Aye sir. Enjoy your time with the others."
Adam extended his hand and after the Major shook his hand and was turning to leave Adam chuckled and said, "Oh and Major... Dismissed."

Kyle smiled and said, "Goodbye, Captain. Talk to you later.
