Naming Baby

Nyx lay cuddled next to Devyn in bed at home admiring the chubby cheeked angel that slept in her arms. She'd just finished nursing and had drifted off to sleep, her tiny mouth still sucking on nothing.

"What about Castielle?" Devyn asked as he kissed his wife's temple.

"No, it sounds like a boy's name." She shook her head. "Gabrielle?" She asked offering a replacement.

Devyn shook his head. "Yesterday you thought Gabrielle was too human." He grinned. "Kestra is Betazoid." He offered as his fingers went to his daughter's hand and stroked gently. But Nyx was already shaking her head.

"Wasn't your old girlfriend named Kestra?" She looked at him.

He grinned and shook his head. "No, my old girlfriend was Castielle." Nyx elbowed him.

"Harmony?" She asked but wrinkled her nose almost as fast as Devyn did.

"And with my luck, she'll have your temper. No thank you." Devyn teased. Seeing that Nyx was getting tired he offered to take baby girl from her. "Here let me hold her a bit." He slipped his arms around the infant and nudged her into the crook of his arm. Nyx adjusted herself and wrapped her arm over her husband's waist, snuggling into his side more.

"Hmm," She sighed. "I could lay like this for days." She looked up at him. "Do you remember the week we spent on Risa? We went out to the bay, rented that small boat and just anchored there. The staff brought us food and drinks on rafts. We'd skinny dip under the two moons at night after everyone left. Mmm, It was paradise. We must have snuggled in that boat for a week."

"Hmm, it was three days and we did more than snuggle in that boat." He grinned.

"Mm Hmm, that was where I fell in love with you." She looked up at him. "It was just perfect. What was the name of the bay?"

"I think it was Suri or something like that." He looked at his daughter. "Someone is awake." He smiled as he let her squeeze his fingers.

"It was longer than that. Suraya Bay wasn't it?" She looked up at Devyn.

"Hey little one." He spoke softly to his daughter. "Nyx say that again. I think someone likes it."

"Suraya?" She watched as her daughter's eyes opened and looked around. Smiling she looked at Devyn. "Do you think?"

"Suri?" He whispered and the baby focused on her father's voice. Mother and father looked at each other silently and smiled. They'd finally found the perfect name and Suraya Alexandria Kell seemed to agree.
