A Major Deal

Cara was feeling a little more relaxed as she walked with Jess to the mess hall. Both men had seemed ok with the choice she had made over Jess and she only hoped it stayed that way.

Looking at the tables she sent Jess to sit with the XO while she grabbed their food as it was the only seats open, balancing the trays she joined her and they ate quietly for a few minutes before she got up the courage to ask "Are you a full betazoid Karl?"

Kyle repiled and said, "Yes and you, Major?"

Nodding Cara asked in curiosity "You seem to be mindblocked in your telepathy ... the ability is there ... you just cant access it."

Kyle said, "Do you know how to help me access it?"

Cara smiled "Definitely ... I even brought the family teaching stones for Jess ... I'd be happy to teach you."

Kyle said, "Good ahead, then. What do I need to do?"

"Take hold of my hands and relax letting me in."

Kyle sat back and let happen what happened.

Closing her eyes Cara reached out and felt mentally around the barrier. Before she pulled it down she moved her shields to encompass him, then tapping on just the right spot the shields fell. Gasping at the damage that had been done to him by the blocks she smoothed it over and then groaned when she realized he wasn't capable of making his own shields yet so she left hers in place knowing it would put her in harms way but rather that than him.

After everything Kyle smiled and said, "Thank you. I hope we can continue this."

Smiling back she reluctantly let his hands go as she sat back. "I'd like that."

Kyle smiled and he felt some attraction, he leaned in and tried to kiss her.

Her smile warming further she leant in and kissed him back shyly.

Kyle enjoyed the kiss and said, "Sorry, I dont know what came over me, I just went with it."

Cara grinned "Don't apologize you're an amazing kisser."

Kyle smiled and said, "Your not bad yourself, Cara. What do you want now?"

"I'd ... I'd like to see where this goes if your willing to take on me and Jess ..." She looked at him with hope in her eyes.

Kyle felt the attraction and said, "Do you want a relationship?"

Cara nodded "I do ... but only a long term one ... not a short term fling I cant do that with Jess."

Kyle liked that answer and said, "I understand that, completely. I don't want this to affect our positions on the ship. Do you think we can keep it separate?

"I think so ... We are adult enough to know the difference between an order at work and a request at home." Cara thought so anyway.

Kyle agreed and went in and again passtionatly kissed her. This time he brought her in close to him.

Relaxing in his arms Cara melted into his kiss only to be interrupted by a giggling Jess whose giggles got louder when they reluctantly pulled back.

Kyle smiled and said, "Do you need to tend to her?"

With a nod Cara cut up Jess's breakfast for her before turning to the breakfast in front of her and taking a bite as she smiled at Kyle. "How do you feel about taking on a 7 year old?"

Kyle said, "I will do my best."

She smiled "I know ... don't worry I have no more experience than you ... mistakes get made but shes pretty forgiving."

Kyle smiled and said, "That's good. I will try then."

Jess slowly came round to look at the two adults before giving Kyle a hug and stepping back with a giggle.

Kyle smiled and said, "Cara, if its a package deal then I accept." Kyle was moved by the little girl. He hoped someday to have one of his own.
