Mission: http://sb109.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/missions/id/2
Location: Sick Bay
Timeline: Current

:This post occurs after the briefing:

Brian rolled his neck and felt several sharp cracks. He then rolled his shoulders and felt similar pops. He called Wicker to him taking her harness, "Okay girl," he said, "Today we get to visit sick bay and check in with the doctor.

He had gotten some verbal directions from the computer, one of the few technologies that he allowed himself and had committed them to memory.

It took about 20 minutes for them to walk there and he could sense that more and more crew were coming on board. No one actually acknowledged his presence though he could tell a few scrambled to get out of the way.

He approached the door that he was pretty sure was the Sick Bay and he and Wicker entered.

Nyx was sitting at a work station pouring over several crew records. She wanted to get an idea of who she might be treating. It had been a while since she had to absorb so much information at once, but she seemed to be remembering most of what she wanted. Just a few pieces of information on each crew member - at least senior staff and at least something to start a conversation with. She hadn't noticed at first the pair that had entered but she recognized the nails of the animal as they tapped against the floor. The dog was a bit smaller than max but very muscular. She grinned when she saw the lab.

"Well hello." She spoke to the man. "That's a beautiful dog." Her memory kicked in and her gaze went right to the man's eyes. Without looking for it and knowing it to be there, one would never have noticed the artificial implants that were his eyes. "Commander Windsong isn't it?" She asked hoping she remembered the name correctly. It was one of the files she'd just been browsing. "And this is Wicket..?" Something about the name didn't sound right but she'd said it already. "Is there something I can do for you Commander?" She walked to the man and offered her hand by touching his gently.

The touch of a feminine hand felt good to him and brought a smile to his lips, "Yes, doctor. I'm just here for my physical, but if your are as beautiful as your voice sounds, you'll make a lucky man or woman very happy some day."

"And you are too kind." She laughed. "But I thank you for the compliment." She moved to the table and picked up a tricorder. Sticking it into her pocket, she turned to the man. "There's a bio bed about three feet to your left. If you'll hop up, we can begin with your exam."

Brian move to the bed without the aid of Wicker who curled up on the floor, he touched the edge of the bed with his hand then jumped nimbly on to it.

"I have to admit, I've never met an Akadian before. Is your physiology much different?" She asked as she ran her scans. "Anything I should know of importance?"

"Let's see, he started, "Copper based blood like a Vulcan. I could see in the dark like in the light if I could see. I am much quicker than and more agile than Humans but not as strong. And I am telepathic. And of course Akdadians are great lovers." The latter part of his line was delivered deadpan with just the barest hint of s smile.

"I see." her voice lulled with the hint of a laugh. "I didn't know sexual prowess was species specific...except in the case of species like Deltans who's pheromones cause a chemical reaction to sex...but I think that's cheating. Take away the pheromones and are they really any different than anyone else?" She asked before lending her own ego to the mix. "Now my species on the other hand...we've got extra skill in certain departments. Considering we have twice the amount of muscles humans have...and we have pretty good control over them - we've been known to impress in the bedroom a time or two.

She closed the trichorder. "Everything looks to be in order. If you like, I can give you something for the kink in your neck. It'll last about six months."

"Brian was kind of glad that she had called his bluff and more than glad she had a sense of humor. "Actually the sharing of emotions during sex is far more inticing then pheromones, although some might call that cheating too. The muscle control is fascinating, but maybe I better not chase that tangent. If you're not human, what race are you?"

"I'm Chameloid." Nyx said and wondered what response she'd get. "If you could see me, my eyes are bright violet with vertically set pupils."

He shurgged his shoulders, "On Akadia we chose partners based on desire and that desire is based on a person's spirit as well as their bodies. We are probably the most non-judgmental race you'll ever meet. It doesn't matter to me what race you are."

"How - ah telepathy." She smiled. "Only a few that I encounter judge. Unfortunately its out of fear and with my past record, the fear may be warranted. Although with my appliance, I am prevented from shifting or hurting anyone." She took a deep breath. "Sometimes a gift and sometimes a curse."

"Yes I think I can relate, my telepathy can be a double edged sword as well. And just to let you know I'm really not a cad. I may be a flirt, but rarely follow through. It's actually been thre.... quite sometime since I've been with a woman.'

"You forget, I touched your hand." She smiled and touched him again. "I learn a lot from people by accidentally brushing against them." She admitted. "I never do it on purpose, unless ordered to do so of course...or in the case of a child that can't or won't speak for his or herself. But I knew you weren't a cad the moment I touched your hand."

A smile crossed his face, "Then tell me what I am." he said intiqued.

"Bit of a flirt. You'd never hurt anyone intentionally. You enjoy the emotional connection during lovemaking and you never have 'sex'." She put t he word sex in quotes. "Every time you're with someone it is lovemaking and that person is your whole world." She cocked her head to the side. "You've got some sadness there - a great deal of grief and a sense of loss. But you've blocked that part of you - it's too personal to share and I don't pry."

There was a long pause, "I lost my fiance five years ago, a man that I loved very much. It was the same time that someone throws acid in my face."

"I'm very sorry for your loss." She said. "That's how you lost your eyes?"

"Yes," he replied, "And I have come to grips with things for the most part, but still even after five years there is an ache inside of me. And what you said about making love and not just having sex. That used to be who I was, but I just slept with a man on the way here and it was basically just sex. There was no spark no connection. I have more of a connection with you than I did with him,"

"We all have primal urges at times." She accepted that as the truth. Although she had casual sex in her youth, she not been with anyone other than Kell in two years. "It takes a very long time for the soul to heal. I don't believe that it ever does completely but the emptiness will dissipate at some time." She couldn't remember her birth parents except when she dreamed and she found herself mourning them the next day all over again.

"I should be able to control those urges better though. Not that we both didn't know what it was when we did it and Clark is a nice guy or that he wasn't good in bed, it just wasn't what I was looking for.

As to the pain, just as I think I'm over it, it comes back like a tidal wave. But I can feel a sense of emptiness of pain from you as well. Care to talk about it?"

"My parents passed when I was very young. There was nobody to train me. I - I can't control my shifting so I've had to lock out my alternate form as well as my ability to shift at will to any other entity." She sighed. "Somewhat like a werewolf if you will. Once I change, I can't control the beast. Unfortunately Star Fleet has come up with a way to do just that." She pointed to the appliance and then realized the man couldn't see it. "I wear a remote control, if you will. I'm under orders to present it to the CO at each duty station. They claim its so I don't attempt to shift in unsafe conditions but some of my previous Commands have used it much like a leash - turning me loose on their enemies and hauling me back when the dirty work is done." She stood up. It was hard to stand still and discuss this without getting agitated. "I'll never learn to control myself, if I don't have control of my self."

As she spoke, the color raced to his cheeks and he turned a deep shade of green. It wasn't quite the same shade as a Vulcan or a Romulan might blush, but it was close.

"To control another person like that and to use them in such a way is reprehensible." he replied, the anger and bitterness clear in his tone, "But I think I may be able to help you. I am able to help someone control their emotions and if they are willing, even their thoughts. Do you think that might help you train yourself?"

"I have a meeting with Commander Drake this afternoon. We'll see what he decides to do about it." She finished making her notes. "I would love the help with learning to control myself but if he decides to keep the control...I'll have no choice."

"I understand," Brian replied, "We'll see what he decides."

"Thank you for the offer. My companion has offered to assist as well." She smiled. "He's Betazoid and Klingon. While he can communicate with me in my other form, he's also strong enough to control me physically." She knew it was all up to Drake at the moment though. He could utilize her as he saw fit.

"Ahh you have a companion, I am glad for you. Hold on to him Doctor, but not too tightly. You don't want to lose him"

"I learned that lesson a few years back. Devyn is now and has been my best friend for some time." She grinned again. "He growls loud enough when I hold too tightly."

Brian gave her a small smile, "Not exactly what I meant Doctor. Just let me know what the Colonel decides."

"I know better than to cling or be suffocating...as I said. We've gone through that." She laughed. "And thank you I'll let you know what the Colonel decides about my fate."

"Good, well if there is nothing else ma'am, I best be going."

"You're all set. Thank you again for the encouragement." She stood up. "And if your dog ever needs a play mate, I have a neutered Akita that loves a pretty lady to romp with."

"I'll keep that in mind and may well take you up on that. Once I learn an area I like to get around without her, at least some of the time and I don't want her to get lonely."

I have a great program I use. There's a pond and a lot of woods for Max to explore." She said as the man headed out of Sick Bay. "Have a good day."

"Thank you, I will," he responded just before the doors shut behind him.
