Location: Deck 180, Quarters of Jade Lantz
Timeline: MD 01, 2140
After a busy day, Jade Lantz decided to have a meal in her quarters before going to the gym. She entered the space that would be her home for the foreseeable future, and looked around. Civilian quarters on a starbase certainly had plenty of space for her, living alone. It was nice to be in a place that allowed her to feel it was more like a home. She went into a small kitchen area she had requested and replicated a bowl of corn chowder and a small salad. Not quite like Grandma used to make, or her chef, but it would do.
Lantz pulled a chair around to the end of the table and looked at the living room area as she ate. She wished it were possible to program a fireplace, because they were so cozy. If wishes were Peregrines, beggars would fly. Her adoptive mom had a million sayings to cover every situation, but that had been a favorite, Jade remembered fondly.
When she could unpack her quilts, it would look more like a home, and she'd hang her few pictures. Maybe she could put up a shelving unit to hold the treasures she'd picked up in her years of travel. She'd turn this place into a home, even though she'd be the only one who ever saw it. She never invited anyone to her quarters. She spent almost all her waking hours with others. Her home needed to be a sanctuary where she alone existed.
Finished with her meal, Jade stood and stretched. Part of her wanted to hit the bed and sleep for 24 hours, but if she did that now, it would be harder to stay with her routine the next night. She changed into her exercise clothing, as she spoke aloud.
"Computer, display location grid for closest public gym to deck 180."
=^=The closest public gym is on deck 182. Map displayed.=^=
Lantz looked at the grid, and saw it's location on Deck 182, just two decks above her quarters. "Computer off," she said, after following the path with her finger. It looked like a life aboard a starbase again was going to be convenient.
