Timeline: After the loss of Cara

ON:

Tallus was in his office looking over progress reports. It had been a long day. There had already been several accidents with his Marines. Between that and being one of the Executive Officers Tallus rarely had time to sleep anymore.

A message was coming in though the COMM system. Opening it Tallus saw the face of an Admiral from Starfleet.

"Colonel Karikkar I presume." The Admiral said.

"Indeed sir. How can I be of assistance?" Tallus said quizzically.

"I regret to inform you that at 1500 hours yesterday the runabout Marcellus was attacked and boarded by unknown hostiles. All crew are presumed KIA." The Admiral gave Tallus the report.

Tallus sat back in his chair the breath ripped from his chest. The Marcellus was the runabout that Cara and her parents were on.

"On instigation of the runabout there was a three month old baby found in a crawlspace. I presume that he is yours." The Admiral said.

Tallus looked up. He realized that Cara must have hid the baby. "Indeed it is sir. I would request that I come and get him immediately."

"There is no need. The baby should be to you in approximately two hours. For what it's worth Colonel, I apologize for you loss. I hear that she your wife was an excellent Starfleet officer." The Admiral said with sympathy.

"Thank you sir. And she was a very good person." Tallus said sodden.
