Lunch was delivered to Jade and Lys, breaking into the conversation, but Jade quickly got things back on track. "Your grandmother on which side?"

"My father's side," Lys said as she picked up her mug of coffee and took a sip of the hot liquid. She smiled at Jade it was a genuine smile. "He and my grandmother are human. You have no children?"

"Never been married," Jade acknowledged. "Someday, perhaps." It was something she hoped would happen. But would her children be like this young woman - half of one thing, half of another? "I suppose it wasn't too hard growing up in two worlds, since El Aurians look as human as humans, for the most part. But there are cultural differences. Did that cause you any problems?" She asked as much for her own decision-making process as for general information.

"Problems? Why would it cause problems?" Lys smiled. "I look and am human to most people. It is only those that are intuitive such as yourself that know any difference." Lys took a bite of her sandwich it was tasty and she enjoyed the flavor. "If you don't mind, as this is highly personal how many years have you lived?"

Jade, in fact, didn't mind. She did have to stop and think for a minute, however. "Very shortly, it will be 157," she answered, and added, with a wry grin, "My how the years do fly!" She began to eat her salad, momentarily distracted by the topic of age, but soon shut those thoughts away. "I have a few left, yet," she laughed. "So you're a scientist?"

Lys grinned and chuckled a bit. "Yes, my specialty of all things is botany, and archaeology."

"Interesting dichotomy." Jade thought about Tivoli Gardens. Greystone's background in botany could be an asset when they got the project moving. She made a mental note to keep her on tap for advice. Hieronymus Block could be a difficult man to charm, but perhaps Lys was up to that task. "What led you to combine those two disciplines?"

"Anthropology." Lys laughed a soft but light musical laughter, her first in a long, long time. "The study of ruins, stones, the remains of people and places and why they did what they did often ends up in plants and then of course stone. I know it seems like it's a long stretch of a straw and yet it's not." Her dark eyes held a soft note of happiness for a few brief seconds as she got excited about her passion. It was the one thing that had kept her going after her husband's death and the loss of her baby.

Jade finished her salad and leaned back. "Makes sense." Privately, she thought the study of ruins was probably a way of immersing herself in other cultures long gone, perhaps searching for some way to understand her own El Aurian roots, also long gone. "Any particular time period or people who have stood out in your experience, anyone who has touched your soul?"

"Well being Native American myself, I have an affinity towards them. But in particular I like the ancient ruins of the Aztecs. They are ancient, they have studied time and shared it." Lys took another bite of her sandwich and chewed it.

Jade glanced up as Serena approached. "Miss Lantz, there's a man downstairs who would like to speak with you. I don't know what about, because he wouldn't say."

The woman nodded and glanced over the floor below, but didn't see anyone she knew, or anyone who seemed impatient. "I'll be down shortly. We're just finishing up here," Jade said.

"I guess my break is over," Lantz smiled. "It was really nice to talk with you. If you have any questions about your El Aurian heritage, I'd be more than happy to tell you what I know about our people. I've enjoyed getting to know you, and I hope you'll be back again, or perhaps meet me elsewhere sometime. The ancient people of central America have always fascinated me, too, and I'd love to hear about any research you've done with imaging devices." She rose from her seat and dropped her napkin on the table.

"Stay and finish your meal. If there's anything else you'd like, just let Jenna know. We have some wonderful desserts, especially today, celebrating the circus."

"Thank You for your time. It was a pleasure." Lys nodded her head at Jade.
