"you too." She hesitated for a second and then moved from the table she got several tables away from Brian before standing up hide enough for anyone to see her, as she did she lowered her hood. "Come on your big fat ogre." She called out seeing Kale in the crowded restaurant. She moved through the crowd and towards the exit.

Kale grinned and snarled looking in the direction she'd come from, there were people everywhere and none looked like Brian. So Kale had little choice but to give chase. He was not alone and the two flunkies that where with him ran after her as she got clear of the crowds. She disappeared into the twists and turns of the streets and buildings.

Leaving one of his men at the entrance to the restaruant as a precaution, he and the other, programmed to be more senior took off in hot pursuit. He thought he caught a glimpse of her as she rounded a distant corner and he changed the direction he had been headed. He had plans for her, very nasty plans. He would have preferred that Brian was there to watch but in the end it didn't matter. He would know about her suffering and that would be almost as good. In that the holo-Kale was just like the flesh and bones Kale.

Samantha was struggling to get out of the clothes that Brian had her put on. She couldn't reach her weapon that way and it was driving her nuts. Not entirely sure of where she was running Samantha didn't hesitate as she ducked into one alley and then another anything to avoid Kale and keep herself close to the hotel Brian had talked about.

Kale cursed loudly. He was sure he had spotted her, but now she was not around to be spotted. He knew she was close though, so he broke off pursuit long enough to find one of the city guardsmen, whom he ordered to notify his chief so that he bazzar's exits could be cut off.

Then he and his underling Able renewed their search.

Samantha stood in the shadows of a tall but not too tall structure. The lights on the second floor were lit up, Sam assumed it was an apartment of some kind. These alley ways were so small, she looked around the building to see the bazaar was packed still with people finishing their daily activities, the sun was setting though. Sam glanced at the building again.. up... Brian had said up was best. Up it was. She moved around the back of the building to find a wooden fire escape she assumed. Who builds firescapes out of wood... gosh!

The building was not an apartment as she first supposed, though she was close. It was a residental hotel. Most of the residents were castoffs from Akadian society, either by their own choice, or by circumstances life had thrown at them. They were indeed the lowest of the low in that society. Riff raff some might call them, but for the most part-with few exceptions that was not true.

One of those exceptions a red headed man named Mason, spotted the woman as he alighted on the roof. His roof. He looked up from his meal drew a knife stalked her with his eyes, then using the shadows began moving towards her.

Samantha made it to the roof, she pushed her dagger into the boot cuff and looked from rooftop to rooftop. She could see for miles.. or what would have been miles. The city did smell wonderful for just a moment or two was lost in Brian's world.

Mason grinned a rather wolfish grin and keeping to the shadows moved to within a few feet of his intended target. His blade, dripping a grayish oozy substance that was in fact a powerful neuro-toxin. He lept towards his target swinging his kinfe in a vicious arc at Samantha's back.

Samantha didn't hear him, wasn't even aware that Mason was there until the moment his blade hit her in the back. Samantha couldn't have controlled it if she had wanted to, the scream of pain pierced the night, her uniform tore as the blade and it's nurotoxin imbedded in her back. Her whole body arched with the pain and the rage of it. Samantha reeled from it, at first trying to reach the blade, but as the toxin began to take effect she found herself struggling to keep on her feet.

He grinned at her, "Sood you'll be helpless my pretty one and then I'll have my way with you. Don't worry you won't die though you may wish you had when I'm done. Fresh meat is so nice and when I'm done I'll pass you around. You are going to fetch me a pretty penny."

He enjoyed her scream but he was not the only one to hear it. An even more deadly predator heard it as well and smiled. Kale headed towards her.

"Go to hell." Samantha got out between breaths of pain, She still had the dagger in her back as one leg gave out she came crashing down to her knees. Her whole body was not limp but she gave him the impression it was. All she had to say was end program for it to stop...although the gapping whole in her back was going to be a problem to explain to Nyx.

When Mason got close enough samantha lashed out, Stabbing him with her dagger. Leaving it hanging from his chest.

~~~~~
Ricardo stood in the distance watching... waiting for his brother to make himself known. He was not as fast as Kale, not as brawlly but Ricardo was smart... clever and devious he knew his brother would not be able to withstand the first of Samantha's screams. Little did he know how little Sam screamed.
Brian keeping his mind as blank and neutral as possible paid for his food, asked for a to go bag, his appitite now gone, and walked out of the building, waiting for a group of other patrons to exit so he could blend in with them.
Ricardo watched the restaurant, Kale's minion Camara watched the restaurant. It was indeed a waiting game.
Brian thought he saw someone familiar but couldn't be sure. He didn't react knowing that, that would give him away. He broke off from the crowd he was with and entered a wine merchant's shop. One he noted before entering had an exit on the far side of the establishment.
Ricardo was almost sure he'd spotted his brother more felt than spotted and followed the soul to the wine merchants shop. He didn't however enter. But rather waited to see if he would come out the front or the exit.
Brian picked out a nice bottle of a vintage Green Zin, one of Akdian's special wines, flipped a coin to decide which exit to use and left the way he had come in.
Ricardo was convinced his brother would sneak out and he waited and waited. Never seeing Brian walk out the front of the building. But Camara did... from across the street and took a casual step off the restuarants steps following gingerly.
Brian too heard her scream and almost froze the program. This was getting way too realistic. Instead he began running through the streets in her general direction. Reaching out his mind to hers at the same time.
Samantha felt Brian in her mind ~~It's training... finish your mission.~~ She said.
~You are my mission too and I'm not leaving you behind.~
Camara took off after him rushing to cut him off. He ran full force into Brian sending the blind man reeling backwards as Camara took him at the waist like football player.
Brian landed hard on his shoulder and heard and felt it snap. He let out a soft moan but managed to bring the elbow of his good arm back into Camara's face.
Camara caught his arm in the face and his nose instantly began to bleed green. The Akadians head snapped backwards. Camara balled his fist and reeled back with a strong arm he slammed his fist in to Brians cheek.
Brian's face hit the cobblestone pavement a greenish/yellowish bruise forming almost immediately. He attempted to roll over and Camara off the top of him. "I usually pefer to be on top," he managed through gritted teeth, and this is just our first date."
Camara snickered at the innuendo. "I heard that about you." He brought his knees into his chest to kick Brian away. Not the smartest of moves considering he was supposed to detain the elder brother not actually beat him. Camara knew he couldn't beat Brian, "Too bad about the girl, though. Kale will have her by now."
Anger exploded inside Brian, while he wasn't normally violent, he was capable of it. He thurst his arm out with lightning speed intending to strike Camara in the throat with his outstrechd heel of his hand.
Camara's hands both went for his throat unable to catch his breath. he staggered backwards falling backwards.
Brian didn't bother finishing him off, it wasn't worth it and he didn't have the time. He staggered to his feet and rushed off as fast as he could manage trying his best to keep the pain from his shattred collar bone from becoming a liablity as he headed to where his mind told him Sam and now Kale were.
Meanwhile Kale had made it to the rooftop... Samantha was laying on her side. Mason was laying on his back her dagger sticking out of his chest. And Kale could only grin for the moment. "I don't suppose you have another dagger you can reach there, missy."
Samantha had made a mental note that in the future trainings neurotoxins would not be allowed to be as potentially dangerous as they were. Nevertheless it seemed to be something that was not as effective on humans as it was on Akadians. Maybe because her blood was different or she was taller and her muscle density was different. For whatever reason Samantha was not paralyzed merely numbed as if her legs were asleep. The dagger had gotten her in the muscles and her back felt like she'd been laying on a nerve. But the rest of her was unharmed, for now.
Kale took his time as if walking towards her intimidated her in some way. When he got close enough he squatted down. "What does he see in such a fragile, weak, little thing like you?" Kale teased her.
"We're friends..." She admitted to Kale. "We care about each other."
Kale shook his head. "Oh but you care for him more deeply than he does you." He insisted. "You're just another pillow for his bed." He taunted her. "A way to keep his precious Morgan from the front of his mind." He added. "You'll never be anything more than a comfort to him." He snickered wanting to get under her skin.
Samantha's eyes were steely, emotionless... which was impressive considering how pissed off she was. "Yeah....I'm fine with that."
Ricardo had gotten to the rooftop just that moment and heard Kale and heard Samantha. He had to admit Samantha was not as easy to break as Kale had anticipated. She was definitely not Morgan. "If they are just friends as she says, she won't be leverage against Brian."
Kale pulled Samantha's knife from Mason's chest. "Then we don't need her." He retorted.. not even looking at Ricardo. "Right?"
Brian pushing the pain as far out of his consciousness as he could came on the scene just as Kale finished his spiel. He could sense Sam's smoldering anger, it was near the surface and easy to read. He also sensed something else. She was faking or perhaps exagerating her injuries and paralysis. He threw one of his three remaing blades in Kale's direction and said, "I'd rather you not do that dogboy."
The dagger sliced into Kales arm and he grabbed it, dropping Samantha's dagger. Ricardo turned around as did Kale, Samantha couldn't help but smirk, as she picked up her dagger while their eyes were glued to Brian.
"Brian..." Ricardo took in a deep breath. "Here we stand again, you and I and them." He gestured with a nod of his head. "Why don't we just finish this here and now. Kale will take care of your lady friend, she's very convinced you are just friends and you and I can handle each other."
"Sam is right," he lied smoothly, "We are just friends, I do frown on Kale taking out a defensless person though. It seems you two have a history of being cowards. What if I just kill you both and be done with it."
He pulled the sword from his back trying to keep their focus on him and away from Sam.
Something in Samantha broke a little hearing him say it, even though she knew deep that they were really just friends. It felt like a bitter reminder that that was all they'd ever be.
"Coward?" Kale growled as he stood up. "Cowards do not break into Starfleet starbases and kidnap people... cowards do not kill their victims." He growled. "Cowards run off world, and hide in the human ranks."
Ricardo held his arm out as Kale came closer. "Two against one it is."
"Cowards stab people in the back, or use a phaser and cut someone to pieces and make their lover and best friend watch, then blind him" Brian returned coldly. They hide in the shadows instead of engaging in open confrontation."
By this time he was only three feet from the pair who had made his life misreable feeling no emotional or familial attachment, merely hatred. "Two against one it is." he replied taking a defensive position and raising his sword with his good arm, grateful for his ambidexterity.
"En garde."
Ricardo drew his sword. "So be it."
Kale on the other hand drew his disruptor and aimed it at Samantha. His hand was unsteady because he was bleeding but it was still aimed at her. "Again if she posses no leverage, Brain." Kale smirked. "I supposed she's really not that necessary." HE chuckled. "Since you can't see her dying this time around I guess it's a shame you aren't bonded to each other, so you won't have to worry about feeling it."
Samantha watched him, calculating if she could move fast enough or not. Probably not. "Don't worry about it, Brian." She offered. "I can handle the Ogre." She reassured him.
Brian took a step back still leaving himself somewhat vlunerable to an attack from his brother. sensing what Kale was about to do, he focused on the disruptor in his hand trying to mentally turn it towards Kale, or at least knock it out of his hands.
Ricardo advanced and took the first swing, the glimmer of his sword could distract Brians focus. Truth be told Ricardo wouldn't have cared if Kale died, his love for the man wasn't that strong. Kale's for Ricardo was not strong either, it was about power and pleasure.
Kales' weapon discharged, it was wild but still aimed close enough to Sam that she had to pull her dagger back out and deflect the energy, Mason evaporated into nothingness. Samantha frowned a bit deeper as she slowly stood up. "Come try that again, Ogre." She was much slower there was still a wound in her back. But the blade was at least gone now.
Brian took a step to the side as Ricardo swung his sword. The blade sliced through his tunic drawin a thin ribbon of blood, but doing little real damage for the time being.
Both to distract and infuriate his brother and Kale Brian smirked and said, "Oh just so you two losers know. Sam is more than a friend to me."
Kale turned his full attention to Samantha who smirked and wiggled her fingers at him to wave hi. "Sucks to be you." She jerked her sword free of its sheath on her back. She started towards him.
Ricardo snickered it was smooth strike but a poor coordinated move, with a swing like that there was little else to do but lunge forward and in fencing lunges are usually end movements as they leave the aggressor off balance. Ricardo was indeed off balance. But he had drawn the first blood.
Samantha did her best to mask the discomfort of the bloody wound on her back and her legs being asleep. She wasn't sure if she was walking right or looked like a drunk marine. Still she saw Kale's eyes and knew he knew she was coming for him.
Kale was rocked by the punch and staggered backwards dropping the disruptor as he did so. The disruptor skitted out of reach, but with blood pouring from a broken nose he pulled out a small but wickedly sharp curved blade about 10" long.
Brian parried the blow, and made a lunge towards Ricardo trying to stab him in the heart.
Ricardo had no choice but to fall over and recover or be stabbed by his brothers sword. The younger brother kept his sword upwards but he was on his behind looking upwards at Brian.
Brian looked down at Ricardo about to deliver an overhanded blow that would have powered through his defenses and taken Ricardo's head from his shoulders. For some reason, perhaps because it was only an image and not the real thing, or perhaps because the bond was too strong despite everything Ricardo had done for him, he couldn't do it. He brought his blade down to the point where it connected to Ricardos blade and he just stopped.
"I.. I can't," fighting the tears in his eyes.
Kale fired at Samantha and the shot miraculously hit her sword, the shot went wild as she attempted to deflect it when she got to Kale she struck cutting the disruptor in half. As she did her other hand was already balled up and in mid swing. she slugged kale with everything she had in her.
Kale hit the ground close enough to Ricardo that Samantha was able to hear Brian's confession of brotherly love. Despite everything he was unable to kill his own brother. Samantha's heart had no such connections as her sword was aimed right at Kales throat. She stood there, albeit weakened and bleeding but she stood there and took in deep painful breaths. Her blue eyes drifted to Brian. They had both men in checkmate. "Computer, freeze program."
Ricardo's programming depending on Brian's next move, Samantha only anticipated Brian not being able to kill his brother. Brian had a heart and Samantha somewhat figured given the chance not in a fit of rage Brian wouldn't be able to actually kill him. But still the situation was just training and they were both pretty badly beaten up.
She lowered her weapon and came over to Brian. Her big eyes wanted to know what he wanted to do next. "I think maybe we should call this one and get to medical for some treatment."
"I think you're right," he replied weakly but with a grin. "But now we face a real challenge. The wrath of Nyx."
Samantha chuckled and it hurt.... "How bad are you?" She asked. She looked at him in the frozen sunset. "Bruising," She eyed him up. "Broken collarbone it looks like." Samantha touched his shoulder... "Good first round."
"Hurts like Hell if I let it, " he admitted, "And yeah I think borken collar bone is a good diagnosis. I can push the pain away for awhile, but then it comes back with a vengeance. Maybe we should head to sickbay."
Samantha offered him her shoulder by putting her hand around his back. "Well this isn't exactly how I planned the date to go, but at least we know how we'd both fair in the situation." She offered, but didn't apologize for catching him off guard with the whole holodeck situation. "Maybe after Medical we can talk about that Bonding..."
"Yeah, Ithink I would like that. You know the only one I've considered bonding with up until now, is with Paul and that won't really be the real thing. We really need to talk this through though make sure it is a step that you really want to take, but like you said after we are done with having Nyx cuss us out and give is our lecture."
Samantha smirked as she helped him out of the holodeck.. "Computer, end program." Sam took in a deep breath. "I've read up on Akadian Bonding rituals." She admitted. "Not that I ever thought we'd consider it.... this isn't slow by the way." She glanced at him to watch his reaction.
He returned her smirk and could not help but chuckle. "No, I don't guess it is. The question is, is it too fast for you. Do you want to slow it down?"
The smile spilled across her face. "Is it too fast for you?" She asked him. "I don't want you to regret anything about you and I..." She offered and the smile started to fade some as she thought about Morgan. She didn't want him regretting a single part of their relationship.
He winced slightly as he took a step towards the turbolift. "No, it's not too fast for me, though I must admit it is a little scary. I don't know if I can ever keep his ghost burried."
Samantha frowned. "Do we need to do a medical transport, Brian?" She asked him as they stopped. She was ignoring the pain in her back. Security had taught her that much, he probably wasn't even aware of how badly she was hurt and she didn't care he was hurting more. "You don't have to keep Morgan's ghost buried, Brian." She offered. "He's give you so much, he's been a critical part of your life. You can't just bury all that." She kissed his cheek softly. "Be proud of him, honor his memories. I will with you."
He paused for a moment, something shifting in his features, for just an instance his pyshic shield went down and she could glimpse a vulnerable little boy within him, then the shield was back up and he stood a bit straighter the pain seeping out of him.
"No, no medical emergency but now you can lean on me, I think you need that now."
She looked at him with a newly found perplexed expression. "What was that?!" She had to ask him. She'd felt it... saw the small boy inside him. Was it really how scared he was? She didn't understand all she knew was she wanted to protect him now more than ever. "I'm fine." She lied "It's just a cut." bullshit... but still.
He wrapped his arms around her in a protective manner, "What was what?" he asked not realizing what she had seen or what she was talking about.
With his arm around her he'd be able to feel how bad a cut it really was. And how wet her uniform was with blood. for someone with no mental protection she was keeping herself steady pretty darn well. Sam shook her head. "I don't know, you just changed somehow. I saw..." She didn't know what she saw. "Nevermind."
He gave her a closer feel, "Damn it I'm a selfish ass, you're really hurt, damn it! I'm an ass for not noticing and you're a fool for not saying something."
He touched his com badge.^=^Emergency site to site transport to sickbay, authorization Windsong Omega7^=^
Samantha put her hand over his combadge. "Belay that, computer, Authorizations O'Dell 1Delta1." If he could have seen her face she'd have had the harshest expression he could have imagined. "if you can walk i can walk. You're not selfish and you're definitely not an ass. Don't be afraid of me getting hurt, Brian." She offered. "I might be a fool, that much is true. But we needed to know how far we can both go."
He turned towards her and grinned, "I don't know that we've quite done that." he leaned in towards her, found her lips with his and kissed her, "I think I could push a bit further."
Samantha kissed him back tasting his lips and being in the corridor somehow seemed dangerously fun. She hadn't meant the comment this way but definitely wasn't going to deny either of them the pleasure of the intimate moment. The comment came to mind and she thought for only a second that it was better not to say it, but still it was a fun little comment. "I think you like being overridden."
Brian laughed despite his pain, "Oh I enjoy that very much and after we finish getting yelled at and doctored up, perhaps I could show you just exactly how much I love it. Besides, it takes one to know one."
It.... to Samantha the word was painful he didn't love her, he loved it... she had promised herself she wouldn't expect much from him and swore up and down a dozen times that while she knew she was in love she had to accept the fact that Brian was not. "Let's see what the doctor says, you're capable of." She offered a chase reply. Her heart hurt, not the muscle but there was just this stupid girlie feeling in her chest that was suddenly there.
As they walked, he picked up on something amiss, something he had none or not done, he wasn't quite sure what it was, but he wasn't going to push things at the moment. They were both in too much physical pain to try to probe futher.
The Turbolift ride to medical fell silent, Sam was starting to feel the numbness in her lower back. She didn't know how badly her wound was and a glance at Brian told her that no matter how bad it was there was worse. "Are you sure you don't want to lean on me?" She offered.
"I'm sure. I have better control over the pain than you do, I think you should be the one to lean on me."
She wanted to ask if it was that bad, but she knew it was. Her body was starting to send her signals of distress. Samantha closed the distance between them and leaned on him. Allowing Brain to take some of her weight but not all of it. "You did great in there tonight." Sam offered. "Considering you weren't sure what to expect, you did great."
"You weren't bad yourself and you did a marvelous job of setting things up. Everything was perfect."
She smirked as the turbolift door opened. "I hope it was accurate... I want to go there some time and not have killing someone as my primary objective."
"Well then we may have to make two trips then. At least two trips."
Samantha smirked. Damnit he made her feel wonderful and moments before she felt hurt. What the heck?! She took in a deep breath as they both stepped off the turbolift. No doubt Medical would be far worse then any holodeck training simulation.
