Mission: http://sb109.sim-station.net/index.php/sim/missions/id/1
Location: Station 261 - Tok's Lounge
Timeline: Current

ON:

The small woman was nearly fallen off the stool, her body held in place only because her arm and head were caught on the padded edge of the polished wooden top. Tok smiled at her as he grabbed the bottle from under the bar and placed his free hand around the shot glass the redhead's fingers loosely protected..

"Hmm, no no." She barely raised her head to protest. "I want the blue stuff." Her words were slurred and garbled. Neither she nor the Ferengi behind the bar saw the burly man walk up until his hand slammed over the shot glass hard enough that anyone watching would have thought it would break and that when he lifted his hand, his flesh would have been pierced with the broken shards and bleeding. However, his hand was big enough that it slammed the bar without touching the glass. It merely protected it from any more of the red or blue liquids the woman had been alternating between.

"Don't you think she's had enough Tok?" He asked as he raised an angry looking brow to the Ferengi. "You wouldn't have planned on escorting her back to her quarters after one more drink would you?" The man was still glaring and with good reason. The bar keep had a reputation for seeking out lonely human females and allowing them to drink 'the good stuff' for half the night before he took them home. It was always for their safety, of course but on several of those occasions the lonely woman would wake to find Tok in bed with her in the morning and much more than a hangover to regret.

"Hey, she's cute and just my size." Tok grinned innocently as he shrugged. "I can't help it they're grateful to me when I see them home safely." He jumped back when the man jerked forward as if he might strike him. "What's it to you anyway? Never bothered you before."

"Never been a Star Fleet officer before nor has it ever been a good friend of mine." He took a seat in the stool next to Nyx and touched her hand.

"Well," Tok grinned and went to pour another drink. "Any friend of yours..." He stopped speaking when the man covered the glass once again.

"Is off limits to you." He lifted Nyx by the chin and smiled at her. "Hello Nix." He grinned and gave her his best suave look which said something. The human/Klingon hybrid was a bear of a man who rarely smiled. There was nothing soft and fuzzy about him until you knew him. "So what are we drinking away this time? Bad eval? Deck some officer? Sent to the outer limits of the galaxy?" He laughed when her eyes opened to glare at him. "We have a winner. New orders huh?"

"Go to Gre'Thor." She mumbled as she lifted one finger on her hand in an obscene gesture causing him to laugh loudly.

"I traveled all this way to see you and now you're sending me on another journey?" He tried to sit her up. She was more sleepy than anything and although she was wobbly, she sat up and looked at him. Tok stood his ground behind the bar still holding the bottle in his hand. It was obvious he was holding out hope that Nyx would send Kell packing and she'd be fair game once again.

"Don't you have other patrons to tend to Tok?" Kell asked sternly.

"I uh was just getting to them, boss...yes..." He set the bottles back under the bar counter and looked at Nyx. "You're on your own kiddo...sorry." He shrugged and headed toward the other end of the bar.

"Thanks a lot traitor." Nyx grumbled at the Ferengi before actually focusing in on Kell. "We were supposed to have three weeks together." She pouted. "My orders came yesterday and now I have to report in two weeks - Starbase Protector. It'll take almost that long to get there. I have to decide and leave in three days."

He grinned. "So you started the party without me?"

There was that grin again. The one that had won her over the first time they met. He had the perfect smile. She sighed out loud without realizing. "I hate when you do that." She growled at him.

"What did I do?" He gave his best innocent look.

"I'm trying to feel sorry for myself and you're sitting there all handsome and sweet...making me smile." She slapped at him but missed him completely. "You're as bad as Max." Max her Akita had been with her for six years and he was her best friend. Max knew when Nyx was upset or angry and he had a way of nuzzling her until she smiled and then he'd bark and wag his tail until she laughed and cuddled him back.

"Well you smiled. Does that mean you're ready to go home and stop pouting?"

"I'm not done pouting. People here aren't concerned about my abilities here. They don't care why I wear this appliance. I've passed all the questions and the Commander hasn't ..." She was getting louder as she spoke and Kell put a finger to her lips to silence her.

"Ookay, so how many drinks did you have?" He asked half amused with her behavior and half infuriated with Tok. He was just beginning to realize how close Tok had come to taking advantage of his girl.

Nyx shrugged off his question. "I don't know seven - teen."

"TOK?!" Kell growled at the Ferengi. "Seventeen drinks? What were you planning on doing with her?"

"Hey, I'm a bartender not a babysitter. She payed the credits, she's a big girl. She said pour, I poured, and it was only seven or eight."

"Kell," She pulled the man's sleeve. "I don't feel so good." Kell smirked and backed off of Tok.

"Well, let's get you home and in bed then. Shall we." He smiled as he lifted her into his arms and carried her out of the lounge.

"Don't do anything I would have done!" Tok called after them angrily before shaking his head in remorse and grabbing a towel he began wiping down his bar mumbling angrily under his breath.
