I love my people, but we Bajorans can be rather thick-headed at times. I suppose that's a trait we share with every other race in the universe, not just with the Tellarites, who are supposed to have the trait in excess.
It seems my people are pissed off that the Federation courts have decided to try Breloc Tejar on Andoria instead of Bajor. My opinion? Let the man freeze his nuts off on Andoria; it'd serve him right. I am not a fan of that planet's climate, and I feel sorry for people who are having to live through an ice age. No wonder they went into space; at least there's climate control on starships.
Do I think we could judge Tejar fairly and impartially on Bajor? Frankly, his case seems cut and dried, to me; the facts speak for themselves and don't require much interpretation or nuance, though I'm sure Tejar's lawyers will do their best to nuance the facts. Cardassians are sneaky bastards, but they're very good at what they do. The only question, I think, is more likely to be if Tejar would survive to his execution date on Bajor. His execution? Not a question of if but of when--on Bajor, at least. On Andoria? I don't know. Andorians can be very vengeful with regard to themselves and their own political factions, but I can't speak for how their jury will deliberate regarding harm done to people who are foreign to their world. Frankly, I'd pity anyone who wronged an Andorian. You might as well slit your own throat, especially if the family gets involved. Perhaps we could work out an exchange program for change of venue. Andoria can try Bajor's criminals, and Bajor can try Andoria's. Seems only fair.
In other news, I've been invited to dinner at Chalamydia's home in a few days; she's hosting a small dinner party. I'm looking forward to it. I'll see if I can recreate Irel's ramufta recipe. It always used to smell so good.
