April Awards

Posted on Sun 14th May, 2017 @ 3:49pm by Colonel Horatio Drake

Guys,

So another amazing month for May and, with it, comes a load of awards!

Firstly, Starbase Vanguard is the proud recipient (for the second month running) of the 'Gold Unit of Distinction for Task Force 23'. What can I say? You've produced some spectacular posts this month and they just kept on coming... incredibly proud, as ever!

I am also incredibly happy to announce that Jenny (Lieutenant Commander Chlamydia Addams) has been awarded 'Writer of the Month for Task Force 23' - she's come out with some amazing medically related posts this month. No doubt her real life training, coupled with meticulous research and superb writing skills made this possible! Well done!

Lastly, for fleet awards, Susan and Jenny's post 'The Smell of Comfort' (http://starbasevanguard.utopia-host.com/index.php/sim/viewpost/544) has been awarded 'Post of the Month for Task Force 23'. It was a truly amazing post.

Next, some personal awards:
Lieutenant Commander Zachary Hunt - Teamwork Award
James has shown a lot of talent this month working with a number of different players (new and old) to not only push things along with the main mission but also develop very believable and very interesting sub-plot lines.

Lieutenant Jasmine Collins - Improvement Award
This is possibly the most misinterpreted award that we've got, people think that this implies that player has gone from bad to good. Nothing could be further from the truth! Lil has been a solid player on Vanguard for some time now - but we had much to learn about Collins. This past month has given us a greater insight into her character and the challenges she faces on a daily basis!

Lieutenant Commander Chlamydia Addams - Treknobable Commendation
Now perhaps not strictly true as most of what Jenny uses, I am sure, is real life medical terminology. Nevertheless, she incorporates Star Trek into this so well! The amount of research that goes into what she writes is astounding!

Lieutenant Commander Paul Graves - Teamwork Award
Chantal has always shown incredible talent in working with amount players on the sim in producing incredible joint posts - not only developing the mission but also pushing character development to new heights!

Lieutenant Commander Solan Jekkar - Captain's Honor Award
Joshua has worked with many players to create some fantastic joint posts. He has injected some life into the security department and has really made the challenges they're facing seem more real.

Lieutenant Commander Sianna Dal - Longevity Ribbon
Keb has now completed six months on Starbase Vanguard.

Lieutenant Commander Sianna Dal - Captain's Honor Award
During the last mission the diplomatic detachment were used quite heavily. The department is one of those strange beasts - never seen in any Star Trek canon and completely made up by the simming community to offer more diversity and variety. The same can be said for a number of departments. It takes a truly talented player to make such a department come to life, this is something that Keb has succeeded in doing very well!

Jade Lantz - Teamwork Award
I think every single player on Vanguard has had a different experience in Orchids & Jazz, some view in as their safe haven... others use it as a meeting spot... and for some, it's their first port of call when boarding the station! Either way, this couldn't be the case without exemplary teamwork by Jade - communicating with others to produce some absolutely outstanding posts!

Captain Brooklyn Wellington - Longevity Ribbon
Allison has now completed six months on Starbase Vanguard.

Captain Brooklyn Wellington - Captain's Honor Award
Despite seeing some fighters in parts of Deep Space Nine, their use was never consistent enough to safely say that a Fighter Operations Department (or by some other name) actually existed. We never saw them complimented on any ship or station, to my knowledge. Yet Allison has succeeded in not only bringing to life the tactical and strategic element of this department, but also the people within it. We're learning of their struggles with life in such a department and, for some, the challenges of the training to rise through the ranks!

As ever guys, I'm so proud to be simming with you all and look forward to what the next month brings us! Well done to all!

Jamie

Congratulations to everyone! This has been a remarkable mission and a super-writing event. Gotta love this crew - every kind of personality is represented, I think, and we all work together!
