Title of current mission: A Fresh Perspective
Description of current mission: 109’s aquatic decks are being renovated in preparation for Xindi Aquatic scientists to move in. We have a new commanding officer and a new chief medical officer. Our CO, Captain Navarra, was welcomed aboard with a Piping the Side ceremony. There is a flu epidemic in Brown Sector, for which medical staff are being recruited to dispense vaccinations.

Noteworthy changes/events on your sim during the preceding month: Two long-time members of our command team stepped down in November, Jenny and Susan. Jenny has resigned from the sim entirely and is sorely missed. She is a wonderful and inventive writer, who brings expertise and creativity to everything she writes. I am deeply sorry to see her go, though I knew it was a long time in coming. Susan is remaining with the sim and has continued to contribute posts full of liveliness and heart. I am grateful for their many contributions to Starbase 109.

In their place, Austen has joined the command team, which currently consists of him and I (Chantal). CF has volunteered to assist, and we’ve taken him up on his kind offer.

Noteworthy Milestones this Month: N/A

Problems (if any) that the command staff should be aware of: Austen and I are getting used to being the command team without Jenny and Susan--though Susan is still lending much appreciated advice and assistance.

Post of the Month nomination and reason: To Brandon, Lily, and Ruth for Medical Matters. What I like about this post is that it shows normal, busy life onboard the starbase and conveys the Starfleet mission there, to care for and protect its people.

Player of the Month nomination and reason: It’s a very difficult choice, this month, as there are so many players who deserve recognition. For now, I will nominate Brandon (Captain Navarra) for the award this month, as he has stepped into the CO role and is playing the CO as an active character. He also continues to support Henry and Isabella Perry in their ongoing mission(s). Austen and Susan also deserve recognition for their four “Rescue” posts, which introduce aquatic crew and for continuing to develop that plot, along with Christina. Lily, Christina, CF, Ruth, and Joe have been heavy hitters in writing posts, as well. Other players are working on posts.

Writer of the Month nominations and reasons: To Susan for Storytelling #1. The bat-like aliens living in Brown Sector’s ventilation shafts have a unique take on Starfleet personnel!
