Whittier, Alaska - What Turkana City Could Be

Today I happened across this Youtube video about Whittier, Alaska. The entire town, pretty much, is housed in one building. It's pretty incredible!

Really interesting place. It would make living in Alaska more attractive in the winter, and I was trying to visualize Turkana - would there be multiple buildings like this in an area, some controlled by one faction and some by another?

I recall from the LCARS image in one of the TNG episodes that Turkana City is pyramid shaped, with the residential areas being on the lowest level, while arboretums and power plants are located higher but are still underground.

Whittier was fascinating to me. I never imagined that there might be entire apartments that families could live in. I imagined it all as being extremely cramped and dim--which maybe it is; nothing says that the Whittier set-up is anything like what Turkana City would be. It was just interesting to me to see a nearly completely self-contained community. that exists for real.

If I had to live anywhere in Alaska during the winter, I'd vote for Whittier. I really don't like having to go outside in the cold and especially not in a lot of snow.
