Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Dear Crew,
Many of you in the US and in the UK have experienced severe winter weather over the past week or are experiencing it now. I hope all of you will stay as warm as you can and stay off the roads if they are icy. I've heard that Tennessee is instituting rolling power blackouts, so Susan, I hope you are hanging in there.
Brandon, I am so glad to hear that you and your family have safely arrived at your parents' home. I hope it's warmer where you are!
I'm saying all of this as a weather wimp from Houston, Texas, where we have no clue how to manage in cold weather! :)
Chanukkah has been going on over this week, and tomorrow is Christmas. Yule was earlier this week. May all of you who celebrate those holidays know peace and joy and the support of loved ones and friends if peace and joy are difficult for you to feel at this time.

This year has seen Jenny and Susan step down from the command team, which Austen and I are now leading. Jenny's and Susan's contributions to and support of SB-109 have been enormous. While Jenny has left the sim entirely, she still provides advice regarding her creations and how they should be used. While Susan has left the command team, she still remains writing with the sim and is a source of welcome advice.
These two ladies have contributed a lot to 109 and kept it going after Jamie and James left. I am very glad they did and feel honored that they asked me to join them in that effort. Austen and I have big shoes to fill.
Wishing all of you happy holidays! I will be available to write with through the next week if you need me, and I might even start JPs with a couple of people. We're looking to do lots of that.
Blessed be!
Chantal

It's not just Tennessee. It's TVA - Tennessee Valley Authority - which extends into some of the surrounding states, as well. The blackouts have been 30-60 minutes long, and have caused problems for some people, but our house survived alright, as the two were in the wee hours, lasted 30 min. each, and I didn't even wake up cold, though the clocks needed resetting! These last few days are the coldest it's been here in E. TN since the early 1980s, and I suspect we aren't the only place who can claim that! We are fortunate that our rain stopped well before the temperatures dropped so low. The first morning, I had some ice on the deck where the drips come off the roof, but the roads were clear, and there've been no more rains or dew to cause ice.
By Thursday, we will see highs in the mid-60s again, and I will be able to stop dripping faucets! LOL Thanks for your concern. Where Brandon's house is went down into negative temperatures (all these are Fahrenheit temps, of course!) but he left faucets dripping, too. It's still cold where he is, but not THAT cold!
I, too, hope that everyone is able to stay warm. A friend here had a new heat system, but the rolling black outs turned it off, and they woke up to 30 F on Christmas Eve day! What a time to need a repairman!
