Personal History | T'Vala was born on the outskirts of Shi'Kahr. Her father was an ambassador and her mother a teacher at the Vulcan Science Academy. Her brother was ten years older than she was, so by the time she was involved in school, he had joined a Vulcan ship as its tactical officer. They do not see each other much and rarely communicate. She was a good student, who loved to learn and loved to read. She was especially interested in other cultures and their histories. She went to the Vulcan Science Academy where she graduated with honors. While at the Academy she was joined with Sovol in an arranged marriage. They were content enough and had a daughter they named T'aran. The family moved to earth where Sovol worked in the Utopian Planetia Shipyards and T'vala went back to school for additional education because it gave her the opportunity to learn from and about a number of different species. A month before she was to graduate with an advanced degree, her husband was killed in an industrial accident. After graduation, she and her daughter went back to Vulcan where she took a job as a teacher. It was while she was there that her parents were killed en route to a diplomatic conference. When she settled her parent's affairs, she decided to go back to school to become a diplomat. She'd spent years following in her mother's footsteps and now she wanted to follow in her father's. She believed that she could continue the work her father did to help solidify peace in the aftermath of the Dominion War. Her daughter now teaches at the Vulcan Science Academy. For 20 years she's traveled from place to place, representing Vulcan and its interests throughout the Federation. |
