| Personal History | Born on Earth in Laredo, Texas. His father, Tomas, was Starfleet enlisted--served as a cook. He always wanted better for Carlos, who seemed to be interested in nothing but his rock band as a teenager. Tomas finally sat Carlos down and impressed upon him that he needed to have a day-job in case the music career Carlos wanted didn't pan out. Carlos finally agreed to apply to Starfleet Academy. To his complete shock (and dismay), he was accepted. Carlos had thought to serve in the Starfleet marching band, but his father was having none of that. No son of his was going to join the military to just be a musician. He was going to train to be a fighting man with useful skills or feel the back of his father's best cooking spoon on his head. Carlos' grades got him into fighter pilot school, and his determination to succeed saw him to graduation. Starbase Vanguard is his first posting. Callsign is Tallboy, earned because, when asked if he wanted a tallboy one night at the Officers' Club, he said yes, thinking it meant a longneck beer bottle. When presented with a 40-oz can of beer, he yelped, "Brah, I can't drink all that!" Also, he is short, so the name stuck. And they made him drink the whole thing, of course! |
