Lt. Baro looked, in her usual uniform of of pockets filled with random tools and spare parts with a repair kit over one shoulder and an arm mounted PADD, at Marine Captain MacBain and Lt. Miller as they sat in the small side briefing room off of ops. "So that's the plan, to return to the scene of the crime and see if we can find anymore evidence in the form of debris or sensor readings that Lt. Miller here can use to help Starfleet stomp those bastards. As this is dangerous turf we need someone who can organize a fighter escort and do more than not crash the Arrow we'll be taking, that's were you come in Captain." She looked at the both of them, "Any questions?"

MacBain shook his head "just one, when do we launch. I can assign two fighters as escort, with the speed and weapons on the Arrow that should be sufficient to get us clear of anything we run into." He had heard about the run in the Samurai had with the pirates. Since all three Pirates ships had been destroyed something worth finding should be left. Even one flight recorder would make the trip worthwhile.

Jacen tapped a few buttons on his PADD, bringing up some information he had obtained. "The Pirates are surprisingly well armed, and extraordinarily belligerent. Assuming that they are competently lead, they wouldn't have attacked the Samurai with all of their capital ships. If they have more ships like the ones that ambushed the Samurai, we may need more than just a couple of fighters at our disposal. I am worried that whoever is leading the pirates may be waiting for us to try to take advantage of the information in the flight recorders."

"I really think a small section is best Lieutenant. We do not have a fleet to send and if they have more Capital ships, our best chance is to run rather than fight. I think if they had more ships they would have committed them. I do not know any government which would consider the loss of three cruiser class ships as inconsequential. A pirate group would see that heavy a loss as catastrophic or so I would think. Since this was a set up ambush they wanted the Samurai out of the way for a reason. If they had more they would have used them. The Sovereign class is well known, they would be incompetent not to know that. Besides if you are right we have an excellent chance to escape. Besides that far away it would never fly with command to send out a large fighter escort." MacBain shrugged after replying, he had never been bashful about offering his opinions. It was not worth any more than another's but he did feel he was right in this case.

"Oh, I agree that a small force is preferable for sneaking in. A wise man once told me that you should never use a sword, when a knife will do. My concern isn't getting in. It is getting out if and when things go wrong. One should always know where the back door is." Jacen replied.

"Gentlemen" Baro said after a moment, "I'm not strategist you are, so perhaps there are things I'm missing. If they did have more ships would they be waiting days later to catch any come latelys, who may or may not show up? When they could just as easily destroy anything they wanted and leave. Especially since one of their ships blew its singularity drive causing a microblack hole in the area..." She turned to MacBain, " It's a flight hazard they may not want to stay around for." She said a bit apologetically to the pilot then returned her attention to both. Personally she wasn't sure what their ultimate goal was, she rather thought pissing off the entirety of Starfleet was a bad idea. Even if the trick was to jump more Feddie ships, it was not going to bode well. Oh you know it was a great idea if you wanted the Federation to never it let go. "If nothing else I'd like to scan the area though naturally any debris would help a great deal."

"Yes the black hole is noted, we should place buoys around the danger zone to watn traffic of the threaten area." He smiled at Baro "I will not get you lost in space Lieutenant Baro. He nodded apologetically "and you are right of course. The attack was several days ago, traffic has passed through the sector since than." Ranulf was thinking of possible needs since they would be so far away from the base. He looked to Baro "you mentioned collecting debris and I am trained in Zero-G operations. I could bring another of my pilots along, in case you need someone to go outside and collect something? That way I could go out and collect whatever you wanted. From the after action report published some of the debris is sizeable, might be good to have more than just one trained in Zero-G movement?"

Jacen coughed once to clear his throat. "I'm not terribly excited at the notion, but I believe that I can hand that, Captain. I've undergone extensive training as part of Star Fleet Intelligence."

Ranulf shrugged "I enjoy doing it but if you think it is your responsibility I will defer to you." He tried to say it in a manner that did not sound like bragging, "I was a recon marine sniper before I was a pilot. I also have combat experience. Besides looking at the distance and time I will bring a second pilot anyway. We are going to have a long day tomorrow. I suggest a launch time for the Arrow at 0600hrs. Would that pose a problem for anyone?"

"Then we are agreed, it is worthwhile to check out the incident site and Captain Macbain will have a co pilot in case we need more support on an eva." She glanced at both of them with a smile, then tapped her arm padd, "No extra traffic at 0600, I will check with Flight but unless there's a problem with preflight checks I can make that time work, Lieutenant Miller?" She asked the intel agent.

Jacen nodded, "0600 it is then."

Baro smiled, "Excellent with your help gentlemen the odds of this succeeding just went up. I'll see you tomorrow. She saw them on their way then briskly went off to finish her own preparations.
