The transport had docked and the doors began to open. An announcement from the overhead intercom verified what CJ had already believed was true, it was time to depart the wretched transport.

=A=This is the final stop, please collect all your belongings and head to the nearest exit.=A=

CJ grabbed Mr. Stitches and her backpack and did just that. She had been ready to get off the transport after about an hour.

Emmie was contemplating getting up off the bunk and finding something to eat. Her first official duty day was tomorrow, and she didn't have any idea how long until she had a roommate ... until there was a banging at the door.

"Hello? Anybody home?" Eslin called out.

"If you're my new roommate, you are," Walker said, sitting up and facing the door down toward the foot of the bunks. "Come on in and let's get a look at you."

Eslin blinked, then shrugged and moved into range of the door's scanner. It identified her as being allowed in the cabin and hissed open. The woman seated on one of the bunks, looking at her had short, red hair that looked slightly tousled. Eslin thought her roommate might be twenty or so decades* older than Eslin was herself, but something about her looked mischievous and fun.

"Hi. I'm Eslin Briga," she said as she stepped inside the cabin. The door slid closed behind her. Eslin pulled the annoying duffel bag off her shoulder and stowed it near a chest of drawers to unpack a little later. "Man, I thought I would never get down here." She walked forward to shake hands. "You're Emmie?"

"Right, Emmie Walker, shuttlecraft magician, at your service," she said, shaking and dropping the other woman's hand. "Yeah, it's a long way down, but we're mostly near our jobs here, and there's everything we need anyway. And not a lot of officers to bug us, either. What's your MOS1?"

"Officially Hospital Corpsman, but I'm actually a medical supply purchaser. I'll be working in Sickbay 10. Sounds like it's waaaay at the back, in the corner, in the dark," Eslin said. "So do you do esoteric ritual magic on the shuttles, or is it swish and flick?"

Emmie laughed. "A little of this, and a little of that. Whatever is required, you know, back there in the corner in the dark. I think we're going to get along just fine. Do you mind the top bunk? Unless you have some kind of fear of falling in the night, I'd prefer the bottom, but it isn't a deal breaker to our friendship."

Eslin chuckled. "I'm fine with the top bunk. My feeling is, you got in the room first, so you have first dibs on the bunk you want. So what is this place like? Have you been here long?"

"Long enough to see where to get into trouble, if that's what I want. A couple of days. I start work tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to that. Lying around doing nothing isn't really my cup of raktajino, but enough of me. Unpack, quick-quick, and let's go get some food. I'll show you the few things I've learned about this place."

CJ stepped off the the transport and walked down the corridor toward the Quartermaster on this deck. She entered the office and greeted the young man behind the desk, "I'm Crewman Carmen Jefferson Pendleton, and I need to be assigned quarters. Here are my orders." She held out a PADD that contained her orders assigning her to SB109.

Petty Officer Jake Landry was the Quartermaster for the next hour and a half, then he was off for two days. He had already planned to go partying tonight for most of the night and sleep.in late in the morning. He took the PADD from her and glanced over the orders. "Everything seems to be in order." He handed her a com-badge. "Computer, recognize bio signs for Crewman Carmen Pendleton and assign them to this com-badge."

"Com-badge assigned to Crewman Pendleton." The computer replied.

Landry handed CJ the Com-badge and her PADD. "Your quarters assignment is on your PADD along with a map of the station. I recommend keeping your PADD on you for the first month or so. There is still a computer interface if you do get lost, but the PADD is a bit easier to use."

"Thank you," she said as she took her PADD back and quickly exited the office. She was eager to find her quarters and get settled in.

Crewman first Class Catherine O'Rielly meandered along the corridor trying to decide how long she'd stay up today. Working third shift, even on a space station, made her feel a bit like a vampire. Especially since no one tended to come to her little armory substation where she tinkered and repaired personal weapons and generally waited for authorized personnel to sign something out. She did get a lot of reading in though so that was nice.

CJ walked along the corridor in awe of the station's magnificence. If she didn't have to leave this deck for work then she wouldn't need to. Everything she needed and more was here. She couldn't imagine what the rest of the Starbase looked like. She glanced down at her PADD and read her quarter's number again, 2244, cabin P124. She looked up just in time to run right into someone else. Her PADD kept going off to the right, her small shoulder bag went left and she kinda fell back onto her bum with a "uhfff."

Catherine caught up in her own thoughts, almost ran full into another crewman but manage to check herself enough so they both didn't go sprawling. Catherine was solidly built and had instinctively gone into a bracing movement which helped. "You alright?" She offered a hand to help the other woman up. Blue eyes looking down in concern from beneath a head of red hair.

CJ used both her hands to pull the hair out of her eyes and then looked up at the person towering over her and then at the hand that was offered. She nodded and grasped the hand with her's and was helped to her feet. "I sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going." She offered her hand this time, "Crewman Recruit CJ Pendelton."

Catherine smiled as she helped CJ up, "Welcome newbie, Crewman first Catherine O'Rielly. Security. What are you trying to find?" Because all new people were always trying to find something and Catherine had been here just long enough to know where most of it was, more or less.

"My quarters, I need to get settled in before I do anything," CJ said stiffly.

Catherine nodded still friendly, "Fair enough, where you located? Maybe I can help?"

"P124, I believe." CJ replied.

Catherine smiled, "Those are my quarters. I was wondering when they'd assign me a new roommate. I can walk you, I should crash anyway. Graveyard shift." She explained.

"What are the odds of running into you on my way to the quarters. That's crazy." CJ said as she began to walk.

Catherine smiled again, "Well you're in the right area, maybe you're just lucky. We should partner up on cards sometime, I might actually win more..." She quipped and gestured as they took a corner.

Shayla Benet did a quick tour of science--if the multiple labs on multiple decks could be considered "quick." She ended up in her little lab, then decided it was time she find her quarters, and see if her roommate was in. She was nervous about meeting the new roomie. She hoped they'd have something in common and could get along.

She pulled out her PADD and looked for her assignment. Great, that would be another tram ride and a trip down the turbolift. Well, at least she didn't have to report in just yet. Slipping her cross pack more firmly over her shoulder, she headed out, using her PADD to keep from getting lost.

CJ and her new roommate were walking down the corridor, her roommate, Cathrine was leading the way. Someone in a hurry ran into CJ's shoulder from behind nearly knocking her down. Her bag was knocked off her shoulder and hit the ground with a thud. Mr Stiches went flying out of her hand. "Hey!" CJ yelled out.

Mr. Stitches landed at Shayla's feet. She picked it up and smiled as she walked toward the two. "Here you go. Hi, I'm Shayla Benet."

CJ grabbed Mr. Stitches and hic him behind her back as if she would be able to hide him. She extended her right hand to Mr Stitches' savior, "I'm CJ Pendleton, it's a pleasure and thank you for retrieving Mr Stitches for me."

"Are you magnetic? Catherine asked her new roommate jokingly, "Catherine O'Rielly" She replied to Benet then she glanced over at Mr. Stitches, "What's that?" She asked.

"This is Mr Stitches. He's been with me since I was very young." She chuckled, "He's seen better days." She added then glanced over at the other woman, "Can you tell that I'm new here?"
