Captain's Log - Stardate: 84566.25

Captain Dobbs has just come aboard Protector with the USS Yorktown, under Commander Ferrok. It was good to see my old Klingon classmate again - I hope there's time for us to have a proper catch up before he disembarks.

Captain Dobbs, on the other hand, is an unknown to me. Naturally I've heard of him and read some of his papers in the Academy - who hasn't - but I've never met the man. He seems very pleasant... I suppose a certain amount is expected from someone who is as highly decorated as he... but what, exactly, are those expectations?

I gave him a quick tour of Main Operations and then saw him to his Quarters. I neglected to bring up the subject of exactly why he was here. The man seems so good at polite conversation and small talk that he tends to lead it - a very clever trait.

It wasn't until I left his Quarters that something struck me about the whole affair... something odd. If he had deliberately kept the intention for his visit a secret... one might assume that he was on orders from Starfleet Command. Suspicion probably wouldn't have been arisen. But it's his distinct lack of secrecy that doesn't sit right... his lack of volunteering information. Someone wouldn't just walk onto your starship and not inform you as to why... much the same premise is true of a starbase, with regards to Starfleet visitors.

It's most probably of no consequence... but something is worrying me.
