March Summary & Awards
Posted on Sun 2nd Apr, 2017 @ 10:58am by Colonel Horatio Drake
Guys,
This is something that I am going to try and do every month, henceforth!
A slower month in March saw us only publish 47 posts across 10 of us - certainly not anything to be sniffed at and still head and shoulders above some sims in the fleet, but not quite into the dizzying heights that we're used to!
We lost our Chief Operations Officer, Lieutenant Rico Shephard but gained a new Chief Tactical & Strategic Operations Officer with Joe, playing Lieutenant Andrew Eberstark (not strictly speaking in March).
I'd like to start by recognising the following players this month... oddly enough all with the same award, the Duane Ribbon. The Duane Ribbon is an award given to individuals who demonstrate exceptional writing skills. So, without further ado...
Lieutenant Commander Chlamydia Addams - Every post that Jenny writes is of the quality of a published book. They always explore something interesting and, through her meticulous detail, we seem to learn something new our Federation medicine in virtually every post! I look forward to reading each post as I get the notifications through!
Lieutenant Paul Graves - Chantal is like the glue that holds everything together. To say that she plays the Chief Counsellor is a grave understatement. She dabbles in everything and, in the short time that Vanguard has been open, has played countless types of characters! In every one of these characters, in every post, the quality of writing is simply outstanding! A pleasure to read every single time.
Jade Lantz - Susan will forgive me saying that she is part of the furniture on Vanguard - she's been with this club for many years and has consistently delivered exceptional posts that are an utter joy to read. Single handedly bringing to life not just her club but also a variety of other characters. Only recently her inspiration has introduced a new storyline to the sim which has overtaken one of the primary plot lines in interest and intrigue!
Now we move onto the Non-Player Character Ribbon - awarded to individuals for the detailed creation of non-playing characters.
Brooklyn Wellington - Allison has created a unique NPC in the form of Leah Jamison. A CEO from Disney Inc. has come to the station to oversee the management and development of Tivoli Gardens. However business has not been the only thing on her mind, from the word go she has made it her mission to get to know as many of the characters as possible... even having a romantic dinner with one of them!
Lastly, I want to highlight the work of our tireless webmaster...
Commander Zachary Hunt - From the creation of Vanguard, James has created and maintained the website. But he isn't satisfied with it just ticking over and tirelessly pushes to improve it and make it one of the best sites in Theta Fleet. He has taught himself what he needs to know and it seems that every month something new is popping up to make us look awesome! It's far beyond my understanding and we are all hugely appreciative of the work he puts in! To us, putting time into Vanguard is just writing posts... to him it's double or triple the time we put in! Well done and thank you!
And finally...
It gives me great pleasure in finally announcing the promotion of Lieutenant Graves to Lieutenant Commander! We've decided that Chantal's character is the natural choice for the Second Officer position so she will taking Graves through the Bridge Officer's Test in due course! A much deserved promotion that has been a long time coming! Well done!
That's all for this month folks! I know my time on Vanguard can be sporadic sometimes, work seems to take up much of my time these days and what's left I try and squeeze in where I can. But I am not going anywhere and thank you all for your patients with me when writing JP's! As ever I can't put into words how proud I am of you all... this is the best sim I have been on in over 12 years of simming and the best group of writers I've had the privilege of writing with!

Wow, what a month! I laughed because you are so right - 47 posts would have been giddy heights for some sims where I've served. It's always a pleasure to read what is happening with all the players. Thank you so much for my award. Your thoughts reminded me of that song from Oliver - Consider yourself at home, consider yourself part of the furniture! LOL, yes, I'll take that, Jamie!

Jamie--Thank you so much for nominating me for the Duane Award! Diane Duane is one of my favorite Trek authors, so it's an honor to earn a writing award named after her.
Paul secretly suspects that the Second Officer position is simply Drake's revenge for making him come to counseling sessions. *snicker*
