1,265 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: From The Ashes
Location: Chief of Security Office
Timeline: current

Both glasses of tranya still had a little left, but the bottle was empty on Commander Mindo's newly installed, spotless desk. The conversation he'd been having with Commander Geri Severide had gone from an intel briefing (emphasis on "brief") to a more relaxed setting. The tranya had helped a lot. While Geri had gotten a little tipsy, Mindo was able to settle his own desires, which had built quite a bit during their initial argument. Both were civil now, making easy conversation.

There was a good reason for all of this. It was the reason Mindo was allowed a wet bar in his office. Fesarians were like walking aphrodisiacs, sensitive to certain pheromones, giving them a heightened sex drive. Alcohol was able to dull the effect and help them focus. At the same time, their own pheromones could be a bit strong, but much tamer than Deltans or Orions. It had been a big problem for Mindo at the Academy, providing Mindo plenty of trouble back then.

Fesarians had a certain empathy about them. It was in their nature to love. Like all Fesarians, Mindo was a very emotional person. He cared deeply for all of his intimate partners. But being a true master of the one-night stand, Mindo was no stranger to broken hearts. Sometimes he caused them, other times he nurtured them. Sometimes he had to repair his own. Mindo was forever a bachelor, and away from his homeworld he was very alone. Given his history, it was a blessing to him that it was biologically impossible for Fesarians to procreate with any other race.

Upon Mindo's desk was now an empty tranya bottle and a small basket of French fries Mindo had replicated from his own recipe. "We had a game on Fesaria," Mindo said as he turned the empty tranya bottle on its side and gave it a twirl. "It was similar to humans' 'spin the bottle,' only the outcome was a bit more... intense."

Geri had a good idea she was under the influence of powerful Fesarian attraction, the research into this Species had revealed it, and the lack of a secret was the only thing that kept it above board. GABA blockers were only mildly effective, and Alcohol of course brought its own special talents to this point where she felt the exposed skin had a certain tingle in the moving air.

“Mindo, I went Ditch Drinking with Hoosiers as a teenager, I’ll decide when things have gotten too intense for me.”

She finsihed her drink, eyeballing the long legs in the glass. “You don’t get hips like mine on sugar free anything, but this might have been overstirred with the simple syrup.”

"I assure you, that tranya was the highest quality stuff," Mindo said. He took a fry from the basket. "So, you're from Indiana?"

She grabbed a french fry and popped it in her mouth, "Nope."

Geri laughed as she chewed, thinking out loud, "So that's the game is it, spin the bottle, answer a question? Or is it Truth or Dare? You can have that question as a thank you for a midday buzz."

"Truth, or... dare?" Mindo repeated. "Is that a game of some kind?"

"My very Favorite." Somewhere in this process Geri had undone her collar clasp, letting herself hang a little more freely than usual. It revealed her chest and she leaned in, the classic manner as she had done a thousand times before and watched where his eyes went.

She was very close to Mindo and speaking in a lower tone than before explained it to him. "We come up with a consequence, something we agree on that we both know must never ever do, because the game Mr. Mindo, is to either answer a question, or do a dare. If you lie, or if you cant do the dare, we end the game and you get the consequence. Intrigued?"

Mindo smiled a near-devilish grin. As he started to answer, the comm chirped and the stern voice of Captain Francis came through.

=/\=Francis to Mindo, there's been a... death. The deceased is in the morgue, Deck 88. This one appears to be a murder." Francis' voice sounded very matter-of-fact. "They're about to autopsy and I'd sure like it if my Chief of Security were there. Personnel can explain when you get there. Hop to it!"

Mindo tapped his comm badge. "I'll be right there sir."

The dapper-looking Fesarian stood and straightened his uniform. "Geri, I am very intrigued, but I'll have to take a rain check. Apparently someone else has a body I need to examine... though I was enjoying yours." He pointed to the undone flap and her well-exposed cleavage.

For Geri there was mild relief but earnest disappointment. She had wanted to make a point, and had allowed things to progress to this point to really sell it. She had wanted to see the little man in his glory, just to have the tables turn. At no point did Geri actually intend to progress anywhere physically, the Fesarian confidence in their naturally oozing pheromones, Starfleet intelligence had trained her well. Those sensations were a parlor trick, and he clearly felt she was enraptured.

“Oh these things?” She pierced the veil of their little dance with an overly flamboyant self gesture to her chest, “Gosh the collar flap seems to have come undone oh me oh my.”

Geri stood as well, and the intoxication, the blushing, all signs of carnal interest all fell away. Sex appeal was a mask she wore like any other, “Rain checks won’t be necessary. I had a bet with myself I’d get you to lean in for a kiss before having to tell you that I am just not that into you, but let it be known I can play this game too. And you will Keep that stink under check around me do you understand, I do not appreciate chemical warfare in my limbic system.”

"Aw," Mindo said smiling. "You thought I was going to kiss you. After that awful drunk act? Sweetheart, I know how much sauce it takes to get a properly conditioned Intelligence officer sloshed and you weren't anywhere close. Direct eye contact, the lowered voice, almost no speech impediment, the delightfully obvious boob view, and my favorite, the sudden out of nowhere romantic interest, despite the fact you hate me and I smell like old socks because I haven't had time to shower in three days after being plucked from the field and reassigned. Please don't take 'intrigued' as 'fooled.' I will admit, I am intrigued by you... but if you thought I was about to make a move, you're the fool. Right now I'd rather go look at the dead body."

Geri laughed, a genuine one surprising herself most of all. She got her control back gathering her things quickly but the damage was done. She had been casing the man at first, trying to prove her theory on his asshole nature to be a thin veneer for an asshole underneath. Instead, he was a delightful raconteur, and her Betazoid empathy had revealed nothing despite her provocations.

She dropped the act entirely as she moved to the door, "You arefun. Gordon was right to insist I get to know you better. I look forward to more of these, hows this time next week?"

Mindo smiled. "Too soon."

Her motions to the door opened, they had almost closed before she winked in the closing visible gap, "I'm getting that Kiss."
